francesa thinks we are bringing delgado back

    reyes
    castillo
    wright
    beltran
    bay
    delgado
    molina
    francoeur

that’s the lineup he just laid out. said he’d be surprised if delgado isn’t there.

he said he thinks the mets are gonna get molina, which makes me think that the news to come later this week doesn’t have anything to do with him. who knows.

so murphy goes to the minors to brood?

I was for delgado until this latest setback this spring. IF he cant stay healthy by not playing baseball since may how can we expect him to be healthy when playing?

  10. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on January 5, 2010 at 1:12 pm (#1130558)

they are obviously gonna wait to see if delgado can play before signing him

he showed no decline in performance before the injury. i think you have to sign him if he stays healthy during the offseason.

but then when he goes down murphy doesn’t have a platoon partner and we get the suck from 1b we got last year

I don’t like delgado without a workable backup plan

  15. Comment posted by sheadenizen on January 5, 2010 at 1:13 pm (#1130561)

I don’t think the lineup will be terrible next year. I think our pitching stinks.

  16. Comment posted by Rave on January 5, 2010 at 1:14 pm (#1130562)

Thank you all (in the non-Fook division).

It’s just inconceivable to me that “in the general hockey populace”, the guy who holds most goalie records and is re-setting them everytime he steps on ice would take second place over any current goalie
    ==
Ohh, I may listen to Fatty today. Has he stopped ragging on the Jets yet?

  17. Comment posted by Joe A. on January 5, 2010 at 1:15 pm (#1130563)

If Delgado comes back I would seriously consider hitting DW #2. I think the approach players typically take when they’re hitting second would help Wright.

  18. Comment posted by C needs a LOWenbrau on January 5, 2010 at 1:16 pm (#1130564)

    I want Delgado.

Some of the getaway scenes from an Indiana Jones and James Bonds movies are more believable than predicting Reyes, Tron, Ollie, Maine, etc will all return totally healthy for the year. So why not Delgado also? F it! Lets put all our money on hard tens!

  19. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on January 5, 2010 at 1:16 pm (#1130565)

the bullpen needs help. the rotation could have used a front end starter now we’re gonna get fodder. But yes that lineup looks formidable (and eerily similar)

    lol…

After Moneyball’s release, some MLB teams — inspired by the early-decade success of trailblazers like the A’s and Red Sox — began to add statistical analysts to their payrolls, even if they weren’t quite ready to acknowledge those moves publicly. To do so would have been akin to being among the first to announce the earth was round. But now the teams that don’t rely heavily on stats are the exception. (Rival GMs say the Giants and Mets are the two slowest adapters.)

There is some sentiment in the organization to go for a more talented reclamation project such as Ben Sheets or Erik Bedard. But the prevailing group now believes that sure innings is the most needed commodity because of the already fragile condition of Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine and Oliver Perez.

Afternoon folks – as much as I hate to say this – Delgado will not be a Met next year. I would take a flyer on him, but recent history tells me the Mets won’t give him a shot at any price.
