I assume Biron becomes the scratch which would make it even HARDER to trade him. I agree, Roloson is the one you trade simply because he will bring you something in return.

Yeah, but in the end, you’re not going to win this year and Roloson is an old goalie anyway. Trade him off for something good and either DiPietro is healthy for next season or you find a permanent replacement and start contending.

Nothing hurts an organizational redevelopment process more than thinking you can contend the year before you should be contending.

He’d be awfully attractive to a playoff bound team that needs a “proven playoff goaltender”. See also the Flyers?

Congrats Dep. Like I said, I was ignoring this week like it never happened anyways.

Looking back that Chris Johnson pick in this league made a lot of sense over Steven Jackson. If I had been smart and looked at the scoring system he would have been picked over Jackson.

Which reminds me, what on GGE is wrong with your team? They couldn’t even get up for the Flyers? (I hate both PA teams more than the 2 NY teams. Which makes Marty’s current pwnage of the Pens especially delicious.)

That KC/Charles dude almost brought you all the way back. it was CLOSE. playing your other TE would have won the title for you.

Just remember what you have in Roloson: a veteran playoff tested goaltender who’s playing extremely well right now. Don’t forget, he probably would have won a Stanley Cup if he hadn’t blown out his knee.

Plus, considering his age, he’s not going to be this good for much longer.

    Potential suitors for Roloson:

    Philly
    Ottawa
    Montreal
    Toronto (if they’re stupid)
    Washington
    Atlanta
    Tampa
    Detroit
    Los Angeles

All of these teams are playoff contenders (except Toronto) but without a strong #1 goaltender.

IMO, I would have won if the Rams hadn’t been fucktards with Steven Jackson last week. That’s the only thing that bothers me about the process. :)

I should have been smart and just started any other running back because I didn’t even have anyone to play for Jackson at the 4pm slot last week.

The Rangers seem to get satisfied very easily with meager success.

4 game win streak coming off a 20 game stretch of playing piss poor? Must mean all is well and they can half ass it.

Already beat the Flyers in their building? Good, they can take them lightly despite the Flyers have an abundance of more talent.

1 win in the last 9 at MSG. Under .500 for the season. At least in year’s past they could do well enough at home to offset god awful road records, especially out West. Seems to me Torts might have to get institute a curfew at home as well.

    Philly – agree

Ottawa – I think they stand pat with Pascal Leclaire

Montreal – They’d give Halak a shot at being the outright #1 before a trade

Toronto (if they’re stupid) – They’re saddled with a woeful pair of goalies but I think they want to see what Gustavsson has first

    Washington – Strong possibility

Atlanta – I think they stick with Pavelec or focus on the Kovalchuk situation

Tampa – I thought Niittymaki was doing pretty well

    Detroit – Maybe

Los Angeles – I think they’re satisfied with their goaltending

    Trade Roloson.

Biron signed a 2 yr deal. He will be the backup.

This is part of the problem with recalling DP now. Gordon needs to now juggle 3 goalies, when he has had a hard time juggling 2.

I could see them trading Biron, rolling with Rolo, and having DP as the backup this season.
but then you need a good back up next year. The 2009 2nd round pick from Sweden, who was playing in Bridgport blew out his hip (surgery performed by the guy who operated on A-Rod, Snow, Sillinger and DP), so he is done for the year, hurting his development.

See, teams like these, it’s not that they don’t have goaltenders: it’s that they don’t have playoff-tested goaltenders and that tends to matter to GMs around the league.

When was the last time a rental goalie sparked a team on a long playoff run? Actually to answer my own question it was Roloson on the Oilers the first year after the lockout. Otherwise, teams like Atlanta and LA that have young goalies cutting their teeth at the NHL level I think are inclined to letting their goalies sink or swim in the playoffs. The Pens stuck with a not so highly regarded MA Fleury in their first legit shot at the Cup and the Canes rode an untested Cam Ward to the Cup. It would be great if the Rangers could swing a trade to get Roloson – not happening in any way/shape/form – just to have a reliable goalie to spell Lundqvist. Maybe Columbus acquires him to put the fear into Mason? The Flyers and Caps remain the strongest bets, especially given the Emery’s injury and he’s only a 1 year deal as well so they’re not supplanting any developing goalie.

Well, Fleury they groomed slowly to be their #1 goaltender. It’s not like he showed up overnight like guys like Pavelec. Cam Ward is definitely an interesting study.

Mike Francesa is Keeping Secrets Again

    Quote:
    by MATTHEW CERRONE, MetsBlog

Host Mike Francesa ended his show on WFAN last Tuesday saying he would soon have a ‘Mets update,’ and he later broke news that the Mets and Jason Bay had agreed to a four-year deal.

Today, Francesa is at it again, opening his show by saying, “I think you’ll be getting some more Mets news here later in the week, but we’ll get to that later in the show… Jason Bay press conference is tomorrow, but there’s more to come.”

…i agree… like i said last tuesday, here, “In my conversations with people close to the team, I believe they might be getting close to an acquisition or two, and they are ‘hoping’ to make news at some point soon after the New Year… it seems like something is brewing.”…

…i’m thinking they’re either close to signing a catcher, or trading for a pitcher, or both, since, from what i can gather, that is what they’ve been working on… who, i have no idea… but, it sounds to me like the goal has been to be try and trade for a legitimate No. 2 pitcher, before turning to the free-agent market… there are deals out there to be had, and teams with whom the Mets fit with, but, from what i understand, everyone involved, including the Mets, need to make preliminary moves, or lay ground work, in order for them to happen… and so, things are complicated…

…so, yet again, francesa has us on the hook, waiting patiently… nice work, mike…

If Bay’s D is as bad as advertised and he Holliday’s a line drive or DMurph’s a flyball we can call him E-Bay as well.

    good for john mara…

“I’m probably as disappointed as I’ve ever been in my life at this team.”

“There are 8-8 seasons … but this one felt a lot more like 2-14 to me.”

Mara on coaches: “The status quo is not acceptable.” Later said it would be tough to swallow if TC said he wanted to keep staff intact.

Bay is #44, Escobar is #45.

Charlie isn’t kidding around. I hope he doesn’t hesitate to hand over #47 to some schlub as well — Igarashi perhaps?

    more mara 4u shea…

“I don’t think I’ll ever get over the last two weeks”

“I’m disappointed in everything. I’m unhappy at everybody. It’s just not acceptable.”

“We did have some injuries but I don’t think we had catastrophic injuries.”

mara’s getting major props for telling it like it is, instead of pussy-footing like coughlin and reese did before him.

Being in Atlanta, I did not (thankfully) get to see the last 2 games of the season. But all I needed to see were the scores. It was beyond disappointing. It was beyond embarrassing. If I hadn’t seen a few….you should pardon the expression…”highlights,” I would have sworn they didn’t even show up at the stadium.

Of course, if he does something incredible, like homer in consecutive games or, I dunno, spends two months on the DL, we’ll have a Bay-watch.
