Congratulations, Rays!

As you might have noticed, we’ve reverted back to the Rays motif for the postseason. Originally, we intended the whole RaysGeek-thing as a joke, but we’re now thinking we might take it seriously, just during the World Series.

No, we’re not permanently switching our allegiance, so those humorless individuals out there need not send us their gripes. But writing only about the Mets year-round is pretty tedious, so don’t be shocked to find a couple Rays-themed articles strewn about. We promise; we’ll still be the place to find top-notch Mets analysis once the World Series ends.

And until then, let’s go Rays!

Alex is a raving lunatic whose work can be found regularly here at Mets Geek. He welcomes comments and criticisms at kingblackfish@yahoo.com.

Alex, my vote is to leave the RaysGeek up there for a while. Though Boston winning would not have been so bad (the enemy of one’s enemy (the Yankees) is a friend), I’m really glad that the Rays won. Maybe it will get Omar thinking that picking up geriatric has-beens on multi-year contracts may not be the wisest of investments. Perhaps the multi-million, multi-year contracts should be going to the best evaluators of young talent, and the best teachers of young talent. Go Rays!

Sadly, Eli, I wouldn’t be too sure on that. Jerry Manuel was quoted as saying he wants some more players with “clarity” and he doesn’t trust statistical numbers too much. Which means, more Luis Castillo, more Brian Schneider, and if we’re really really (un)lucky some David Eckstein!

I would include Scott Kazmir, even though he never wore a NY Mets uniform.

I’m just glad to see the Boston sports monopoly come crashing down.
