D-WRIGHT!
WAY TO GO BUDDY
That Wright play was the play of the year!
that was a silly fucking play david wright just made on the flying hawaiian. fucking bloody hell, mate.
delgado makes and breaks this team. currently, in making mode.
Wright rulez! You know, Jerry pulled the string putting him in there tonight
LIL JERRY OVER MANAGING A BIT,,,
ha. good 1 chris.
i just wish yourgenis were there to enjoy this.
wright is everything brian schneider should be
Hey all, just got home. What did Charlie Manuel do in the 8th inning?
He touched himself?
When I first turned on the tube the SNY announcers were saying that if the Phillies miss the playoffs it will be because of decisions like he made here in the 8th inning.
he argued with himself ???
I have the phils announcers. Romero is not really available tonight according to them and I guess seanez vs Delgado was a matchup the guys on sny thought should of never happened
As bad as last night was, hanging on to win tonight, would be a complete 180! I love this game.
Guess whatever it was it wasn’t as big of a deal as they were making it.
I HOPE REYES REIGNS IN ANY CELEBRATION IF HE SCORES
Hey Booey, did u get my email about the fantasy league?
Pedro clowning around in the dugout. He’s a real cut up. Ha-Ha.
yes i signed up chris thanks,,,,
it’s not over, 7 up, but yeah. this team has been so resilient in terms of rebounding in resounding fashion on the heels of (excruciatingly) brutal losses.
very impressive effort thus far.
time for some stat-padding david!
It bothers me that some of the geeks don’t show up when it matters most. I’m sure some of them wanted to PH for Murph in the 6th. I say, shame on them. Strategy won out!
I’m not talking about that booey. I sent u an email 5 minutes ago. I hope I sent it to the right person.
hold on man ,, ill check,,,
This Carpenter kid looks like he is on the meatball parm sandwich diet.
wifey just went to bed so i can get on the geek, otherwise she cockblocks.
what the F was david swinging at there. he’s struggling a little it seems (though still w/good numbers).
Come on, speed this up. score another run first
david is really out of it…he can’t even meaninglessly add to his rbi total either anymore
got it the fant football,, thanks,,,
Am I missing something here on the blog?
no problem
She geekblocks, Super T. YOu know what i meant. I have to talk to her and whatnot.
Does anyone out there really feel comfortable with a 3 run lead with 1 inning to go?
Bombers taking it in the shorts tonight. The Ponson fairie dust must have been sprinkled a little too liberally. Ran out.
damn!
Yep, wives…what can you do? Does she have a problem with you watching the games too?
I don’t feel comfortable. I hope we can do it but honestly, this pen sucks
We will get it done tonight!
No. She watches w/me. And she’s only my GF, dog. Wifey is just an affectionate nom de guerre. But she’s a legit fan. Just doesn’t post on the Geek.
Timlin needs to get a fucking out here.
Hmmm, may have stayed with Smitty, but 1 out!
Last time we came to Philly and dropped the 1st one we won the next 3 from them.
2 more. Come on, Ayala,
1 more. Come on, Ayala.
FUCK U TAGUCHI. EAT A DICK.
That’s kewl that she watches with you.
we’re really good at coming back from season-ending losses
Ayala is shaky but not nearly as mindbogglingly bad as the other guys are a lot of time.
It’s… a lot like Wagner, really.
I hate this lil douchepowdermonkey.
He’s always pestering our buttholes whether it be from the NL Central of the city of brotherly love.
Ayala has been an undeniable step up from the rest of the LOLpen. Small sample size but fuck these other guys blow the game every other appearance.
FIRST PLACE.
Ayala “Mota like” (2006)
Philly travel to Wrigley for 4 tough ones!
PIITB!
piitb
This team has mad resilience. Props to Santana for getting by despite a tough beginning.
Delgado. You. Are. Simply. Killing. It.
Barring a freak injury, Delgado’s option has to be picked up. He’s been the most clutch hitter since the ASB, and how can you not bring back a guy who will lead the team in dingers and eventually RBI?
Matt Yallof picking up the SNY talking points and bashing Cholly now.
Cerrone will do the same tomorrow I GUARANTEE IT.
WOW, Murphy got his big hit off Lidge….that is AWESOME! About time we got too him!
After that April, 35+ homers and 110+ rbi was almost unfathomable. And those should happen for him.
Hold on. I just checked the box score. They’re giving the blown save to Saenz. That’s criminal.
Books!
Though to be fair to the bullpen, yesterday’s game was a lot less about how bad the ‘pen is and a lot more about how little is really left in Pedro’s tank.
I mean, three runs out of a bullpen over… eight innings? You’d like better but it isn’t AWFUL awful either.
Five runs in five innings is completely unacceptable, even in Philly.
Almost makes you think the Mets have heart. I thought the Phillies had heart? The Phillies had heart last night. I guess Jerry sneaked into their dugout this afternoon, stole their heart, and performed transplant surgery to give the Mets heart. Good job Jerry!
We kind of have the Phillies number this year. Or at least we got more digits of their number than they have of ours. Nah mean?
Bedtime. ZZZZZZZZZZZ.
You think there will be front page story about how the Mets jumped on the Phillies bullpen and stole one away from them? Didn’t think so.
Phuck you Phillies! See even after that mindnumbing loss yesterday, we are exactly where we were 2 days ago: ahead 1/2 game. This team has shown great bounceback abillity after bonecrushers.
Another year on that body and April May becomes April May June July and… this team can’t take that from him.
Delgado has been a pleasant surprise for the middle of this season, no doubt, but you can’t pick up that option. You just CAN’T.
You can’t just keep rolling the dice on age and expect to never come up craps.. SEE: The Yankees.
Saenez blew the save. Lidge didnt enter until it was 3-3
If we pick up Delgado’s option and he bombs completely, will we still get the two draft picks. I heard that they look at the past two years and see if their good enough. Does this year make up for that?
According to the play by play, they came when Lidge was on. Doesn’t really matter, I guess, but Lidge definitely deserves that BS.
Draft picks are lottery tickets, especially for a team that won’t go over slot. Nice to have but longshots that aren’t worth factoring into a decision.
Back up a truck full of money up to Mark Tashanaynay’s house before we even think about Delgado.
And then take long long looks at Murphy Evans and Carp.
That’s a lot of money to pay for a guy who didn’t show up until June.
Delgado hit his hr off of Seanez in the 8th. Beltran got on and then they put lidge in
I understand the fear about taking Delgado’s option but, honestly, what other choices are there? And don’t say Teixeira because we’ll never outbid the Yankees or the Angels.
You’re right. The homerun tied it then Lidge allowed the rest of the runs to pile on.
There really isn’t another option…unless Omar has some unforeseen trade up his sleeve. Pick up the option, use Evans as his caddy and against tough lefties, and use the excess funds to to re-sign Ollie P.
I’m always right. I was right about Stokes this Spring.
Boop
LFM, you can’t be against signing players, resigning players, AND drafting players. The only way of acquiring players left over is by some sort of osmosis.
Daniel Murphy got his hit against Lidge.
Damn, the BBTN producers must be pissed the Mets won, cause they’re delaying that highlight instead of leading with OMG!! METZ SUCK!!1!!
ROFL
Hiro, they’ll find a way to make this game another symbol of the Mets’ flaws.
“OMG Santana couldn’t win it for them himself, some ace he is!”
If the Phillies had won it would be in the headlines right now.
I checked espn.com before heading to the geek. Nothing about the Mets game at all. Immediately I thought, “we came back and won?”
IN YOUR FACE ESPN. IN YOUR RETARDED FACE. METS WIN.
As nice as Delgado’s turnaround has been, he’s not going to win the MVP with a .260 avg.
Besides, Delgado isn’t that expensive anyway. He’s $8 million for what appears to be a league average 1st baseman. I’d love to see what Evans can do but, honestly, he needs some more time in AAA.
He deserves more votes than Wright, at least.
Well, let’s wait and see with September. I think we’ll see some good things from Wright in the next couple of weeks.
Sure.
You develop players.
I’m not AGAINST drafting players… but you get draft picks every year. You get LOTS of draft picks every year.
Two more draft picks that you may or may not do anything and might get traded to Washington for a bag of magic beans… the marginal utility against throwing eight million more dollars at a Delgado who refuses to sit even when he’s slumping terribly…
You gotta look at the cost-risk analysis there.
If you buy fifty dollars in lottery tickets and fifty-two dollars in lottery tickets… and you had to chop off a finger to get those two extra bucks…
The finger’s probably worth more to you.
Draft WELL, develop WELL, don’t yoyo guys and don’t toss them out for not immediately succeeding… and a few extra spins of the wheel don’t know much.
The vast majority of your draft picks any draft won’t do anything at the major league level anyway.
I’d have no problem letting him be the defensive replacement for Delgado, and get at bats against lefties, since he rakes against them. But, for how relatively how little Delgado is going to cost, and the need to bring back Ollie and add to the bullpen, I don’t see why he shouldn’t be brought back.
Unless this game leads the 11 PM SportsCenter, there is a legitimate conspiracy theory here.
… a few more spins don’t MEAN much, rather.
The baseball portion of Sportscentre will be devoted to figuring out a rationale to not count the Yankees out of the playoff picture.
Of course, 85% of it will be about ridiculously lame college football minutae but… y’know… here we are, that’s the culture.
wtf @ hating on college fb
Oh, I’m not hating on college football.
I’m hating on updates about the 3rd string linebacker’s health at Minor Southern College instead of showing baseball pennant race highlights.
The major moves at the major schools, mazeltov.
But for God’s sake, the depth they go into on stuff that just isn’t national stories.
awesome lead-in ESPN *eyeroll*
We are in 1st Place again. Woot Hoo!!!!
Lets never leave it again!!!
howdy metswin
What shaking Chris? Just got back from the Sports Bar. Awesome win and the Yanks lost so no crap from the Yankees fans either. Yankee fans were actually rooting for the Mets, if you can believe that one. A yankee fan told me no way he will root for Jimmy Rollins. Guess, only ESPN loces the guy, lol
OH SHIT EVEN WHEN WE WIN WE LOSE NOW FUENTES WILL BE BLOCKED BY THE PHILS AND THEIR GUTS
Hey Chris whats going on?

I had fun yelling at the Phillies bullpen at the game. Did you know you can’t stand and watch the game at Philly. Even with 2 strikes when everyone stands the ushers kinda look at you like your doing something wrong. My 4th time at the park and this is the first time i noticed this
