ah nice, you took the day and all? no issues?

ha, louie’s shadow was obviously looming large over the team this weekend.

his mere name being mentioned has caused cancer cells to appear in the locker room.

If I’m on the thread, not sure i will be, i will be blasting anyone that attacks little louie. i have offered him my protection

Even if he commits two errors and hits into three Easleys?

  15. Comment posted by Athena on August 25, 2008 at 4:59 pm (#816242)

haha! Nice, Dep. I’m sure he appreciates it on some subliminal level. ;-)

  17. Comment posted by Mr. Bananagrabber on August 25, 2008 at 4:59 pm (#816244)

I’m nearly certain that all protection offered will cease when Castillo misses a grounder in the hole that Argenis would have had…

  18. Comment posted by Dep on August 25, 2008 at 4:59 pm (#816245)

Manuel said it will probably start Perez on Friday and not use an extra starter until Tuesday.

haha, that will test it. i meant more criticism of him b4 the dude even plays.

if he plays like crap, then so be it. i will let the dogs have him.

  22. Comment posted by Ogre on August 25, 2008 at 5:04 pm (#816249)

i meant more criticism of him b4 the dude even plays.

But it’s justified. Even according to Heyman today, Easley has been “excellent in his absence.”

I wonder if Tuesday will be enough time for Brandon Knight to get ready?

But it’s justified. Even according to Heyman today, Easley has been “excellent in his absence.”

    oy. idiots abound!

even our team is run by idiots

the proposed easley/little luis platoon makes very little sense.

  25. Comment posted by Ogre on August 25, 2008 at 5:08 pm (#816252)

the proposed easley/little luis platoon makes very little sense.

Ogre would like to see LL’s range for a few games before deciding whether or not he needs to be replaced in the late innings by OUR-genis. Other than that, Ogre doesn’t see how he won’t be an offensive upgrade, and hopes he gets a longer leash than Jerry has been giving the relievers.

  26. Comment posted by Dep on August 25, 2008 at 5:22 pm (#816254)

    i’m fine castillo playing

i reject the idea that easley has done shit to deserve “all lefty starts”

Little louie has outperformed there as well, and that’s LL’s strong side as well.

its dumb to restrict the better offensive player to his weaker side to make room for a guy that produces as little as hitman is this season

  27. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:24 pm (#816255)

Yeah, I don’t really understand why Louie Louie has become person non grata.

  28. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:25 pm (#816256)

Im not gonna blast castillo im going to blast the person that decides to bat him 2nd. STUPID.

  29. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:25 pm (#816257)

Honestly, I don’t mind when Castillo bats second if that means that A Reyes is not going to.

  30. Comment posted by Dep on August 25, 2008 at 5:27 pm (#816258)

Im not gonna blast castillo im going to blast the person that decides to bat him 2nd. STUPID.

yup, he’s perfect for 8th imo, but i guess i’ll give up on that one

  31. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:27 pm (#816259)

lol. Neither should tho lol. Batting him second is a small step up from A Reyes tho lol

  32. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:28 pm (#816260)

Nah, it’s a huge step up. 80 points of OBP.

  33. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:28 pm (#816261)

    A Reyes was horrible lol.

  34. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:29 pm (#816262)

    lol@ fangraphs

They dont just have him Daniel Murphy they have him “Daniel Thomas Murphy” on the team page lol.

  35. Comment posted by TLC on August 25, 2008 at 5:30 pm (#816263)

I am offering my protection for Louie if Dep’s absent tonight in the thread.

  36. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:31 pm (#816264)

Yeah, A Reyes has no value offensively. He’s certainly a nice defender though.

  37. Comment posted by Athena on August 25, 2008 at 5:32 pm (#816265)

Has Jerry ever articulated why he left him at 2nd after When he took over? Is it to keep the bottom of the order from being too weak?

  38. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:32 pm (#816266)

That’s impressive, TLC. I know how much you like the dude. ha

  39. Comment posted by Athena on August 25, 2008 at 5:33 pm (#816267)

I am offering my protection for Louie if Dep’s absent tonight in the thread.

Terrific. That should keep us covered!

  40. Comment posted by Danny on August 25, 2008 at 5:33 pm (#816268)

Yeah Athena, Jerry likes the punch spread throughout the lineup. He’s mentioned that before.

  41. Comment posted by TLC on August 25, 2008 at 5:34 pm (#816270)

Megan Kelly looks hot at the DNC. I hate fox but she is hot and even hotter in an environment where they may skin her alive

  42. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:34 pm (#816271)

There’s actually been studies that your 2 hitter should be your best lol. Jerry did not read that one I dont think lol.

  43. Comment posted by TLC on August 25, 2008 at 5:35 pm (#816272)

You know, I have no problem with Louie. My problem is the contract and the obsession of batting him second. When Ed Wade coverts a player, it also scares me as well

  44. Comment posted by Athena on August 25, 2008 at 5:35 pm (#816273)

I would offer to protect him myself, except I’m not quick enough with the stats. Do you guys think that, “C’mon he’s clearly trying out there. Look at him grimace!” will be persuasive?

If not, I think it best if I leave it to Dep and Chris.

  45. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:36 pm (#816274)

Bah it needs to rain. I dont wanna take the girls to cheerleading today lol

  46. Comment posted by Ellis Dee on August 25, 2008 at 5:36 pm (#816275)

I like Murphy the most batting 2nd. Good OBP, SLG, and works the count for Reyes to steal. And he has avg to above avg speed even tho he looks funny running.

  47. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:37 pm (#816276)

Didnt Castillo do well with RISP? Maybe he’ll help our late inning offensive funks.

  48. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:38 pm (#816277)

Murphy batting 2nd makes perfect sense.

You have the lineup the way it is now and if church moves up then murphy is batting too low IMO.

  49. Comment posted by TLC on August 25, 2008 at 5:38 pm (#816278)

RAINFALL UP TO 6 INCHES IS EXPECTED ACROSS PARTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA BY MIDDAY TUESDAY…WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. SUCH RAINFALL WILL RESULT IN RAPID RISES OF CREEKS AND STREAMS. FLASH FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE IN AREAS WHERE THUNDERSTORMS OCCUR…ESPECIALLY IN STEEP TERRAIN AND URBAN AREAS.

This means I am going to be bored tomorrow

  50. Comment posted by Athena on August 25, 2008 at 5:38 pm (#816279)

Thanks, Danny. So it seems we need Schnieder to get red hot. Then the catcher platoon will qualify as “punch” toward the bottom of the line-up and Jerry might be willing to move Castillo further down.

So for all you Schneider haters (of which I am not one) - this is his fault, too!

  51. Comment posted by TLC on August 25, 2008 at 5:40 pm (#816280)

Maybe he’ll help our late inning offensive funks.

I’m defending the guy tonight but he has a sub- .500 late inning OPS. Only “Fan Favorite Ryan Church” is worse than Louie.

  52. Comment posted by john on August 25, 2008 at 5:41 pm (#816281)

oh well so much for that then lol.

  53. Comment posted by sheadenizen on August 25, 2008 at 5:42 pm (#816282)

Athena, Schneider is as hot as he’s ever getting. This is it. Trust me….lol!

    Later all :)

Athena, Schneider is as hot as he’s ever getting. This is it. Trust me….lol!

Ha, Shea! I’m sure you’re right. But that likely means that we will have to get accustomed to Castillo batting 2nd.

UPDATE, 5:20 p.m.: Manuel didn’t commit to Mike Pelfrey on Saturday but he did say, “You’ve gotta go with your best.” That contradicts the Mets’ previous thoughts about pushing back Pelfrey’s next start. He was one of their best last Thursday when they discussed limiting his innings, right?
