Billy is resting up for the next series against the Phillies. He knows the team is in good hands with the rest of the pen.

    :sobs:

    yes. Graduated in 1991.

whew! I thought you may have graduated with my ex-wife! lol

Maybe Billy being hurt is good news for the rest of the bullpen. They know they have to step it up.

And honestly if the Mets find a way to make the playoffs and Billy can’t go. Can we really say we’ll miss:

1-1, 8.71 ERA with 3 saves career in the playoffs?

Or the ERA over 9 for the Mets in 2006? The guy was so terrible he made Willie use Mota in the late innings. Instead of going Heilman-Wagner he went Mota-Heilman instead. We all know what happened.

Also true story: Guillermo Mota has a better postseason ERA than Billy Wagner.

Also true story: you can’t possibly believe that this bullpen is better w/out Wagner.

I’d still rather take my chances with Wags.

No, I can’t. It’s not possible with the way all of our relievers have spit the bit.

Absolutely, but I had to post that stat because it seemed like something a WFAN guy will say later tonight.

My sister is 34 years old with two kids and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about baseball. So, no, it was not my sister. :)

Billy resting now is good. He has been gassed at the end of the last two seasons.
Now, hopefully, whatever is ailing him will heal with a couple of weeks rest.
In the meantime, complete games and blowout wins woould be nice.
And maybe the rest of the pen will progress to the mean, since they have been the suck for a while now.
They’ve had spurts of excellence. Now they need to do it again.

People seem to think so. She’s also, however, a rotten little bitch.

I see Castillo’s rehab stint is supposed to end this week. Can’t it be extended since he took 6 days off of it to deal with the family issue?
If not, they have to activate him this week, or find another injury to extend it.

Gary and Keith are very much on the this-team-is-better-with-Luis bandwagon.

They mentioned, for example, that Luis’s OBP is 50 points higher than Easley’s.

I hope Luis’ legs are in better shape now.
    Dude looked painful running.

maybe he came back to quickly from the offseason surgery.

time to earn the paycheck Luis.

I was at my parent’s house last weekend and I made the mental lapse of referring to my sister as “bitchface” in front of my parents. They were, needless to say, taken aback.

No, Future - I posted after you saying it might have been Lunk’s girlfriend

Castillo actually outproduces the Easley/A Reyes platoon offensively if you can believe it.

a healthy castillo will help…and he should be healthy after fuckin 2 months of rest (or however long it was)

  24. Comment posted by Ed in Westchester 2.0 is an optimistic yahoo on August 18, 2008 at 11:46 am (#808559)

    I can believe that Danny.

Easley is like Endy, good in short spurts.

Extended use is hazardous to his statistics. And the ability to win.

  25. Comment posted by 71 on August 18, 2008 at 11:47 am (#808560)

    more importantly, is she single?

  26. Comment posted by Lunkwill Fook on August 18, 2008 at 11:48 am (#808561)

Easley’s power has dropped like a brick this season. Which, unfortunately, used to be his main tool.

    ….

    heheh, I said “Main tool”.

  27. Comment posted by Danny on August 18, 2008 at 11:48 am (#808562)

Easley is like Endy, good in short spurts.

Easley over the last month, while playing pretty much erry day: 79 PA, .205/.266/.288/.554

  28. Comment posted by Ed in Westchester 2.0 is an optimistic yahoo on August 18, 2008 at 11:49 am (#808564)

    MC

…the Mets are a better team with Damion Easley and Argenis Reyes playing second base, then they were in the start of the season with Castillo, which is not to say he is the reason they win and lose…it’s just, things are going well as is, and i’d hate to see them mess with a good thing…

…Jerry Manuel seemingly rewards people who perform, so it’s hard to imagine how this scenario will play out, though it will be an interesting test to see what the organization values: putting its best team on the field, or justifying a poor contract…

Funny, because MC kept saying Castillo needed to be in the 2 spot.

    Now he sucks.

  29. Comment posted by Ed in Westchester 2.0 is an optimistic yahoo on August 18, 2008 at 11:50 am (#808565)

ah, Danny fighting the good fight over at MC.

Easley is like Endy, good in short spurts.
Extended use is hazardous to his statistics. And the ability to win.

That’s just because he hasn’t been used in the 3 hole enough.

    ….

    heheh, I said “3 hole”

  35. Comment posted by Ed in Westchester 2.0 is an optimistic yahoo on August 18, 2008 at 12:02 pm (#808576)

But Castillo, by his mere presence, makes the team worse!

sweet jesus. they do grow em dumb over there huh?

alot of you stat guys judge this by numbers which is fair because thats how we judge a player… but in fairness its hard to argue how mentally tought this team has been since this guy left with injury. we havent been making any errors! effort sticks out now with this team && you can see everyone working hard.

With CASTILLO you see a boring player that slows down the game && the tempo for his team. Stats arent everything.

Some people look at stats too much. Of course stats are very necessary … but they should not justify a player.
