Sanchez has 6 pitches over 90…..his highest was 91.3 which he hit twice.

so did stokes really hit 97 a few times?

  5. Comment posted by john on August 11, 2008 at 11:16 am (#800330)

I dont want Chad starting for us……Henne was actually pretty good on saturday night lol. And Ricky looks REAL GOOD. Of course we still lost lol

if ricky can stay healthy and puts in some work, he can be very good

    he’s a beast

  8. Comment posted by john on August 11, 2008 at 11:18 am (#800334)

    Stokes high pitch was 96.5

    His next highest was 96.

He did hit 95 a bunch of times tho.

  9. Comment posted by john on August 11, 2008 at 11:19 am (#800335)

Hopefully Chad would want to stick it to the jets lol.

I wasnt too excited about this season but at least between brown and williams we should have a good running game.

    Our WR stink tho.

  10. Comment posted by Kneel Before Zod! on August 11, 2008 at 11:19 am (#800336)

ok. i guess the SNY gun wasn’t juiced…or maybe all the guns were juiced that night, cuz pitches didnt look that fast to me.

  11. Comment posted by Dep on August 11, 2008 at 11:20 am (#800337)

really? I thought Stokes velocity was for real.

he was blowing it by the fishies at times

  12. Comment posted by Dep on August 11, 2008 at 11:20 am (#800338)

Chad definitely wants to stick it to the jets.

  13. Comment posted by john on August 11, 2008 at 11:20 am (#800339)

The Guns tend to be off a mph or two. Most of the time the TV gun is faster IMO.

the ones that were hitting 96 and 97 didnt look right to me

    i guess i buy 94-5

  16. Comment posted by john on August 11, 2008 at 11:21 am (#800342)

Whether it was 95/96/97 dude threw very hard.

  17. Comment posted by Dep on August 11, 2008 at 11:22 am (#800343)

hahaha, well, the difference between 94 and 97 is hardly visible to the human eye to begin with.

i go by player’s swings and reactions more than what the pitch looks like.

  18. Comment posted by sheadenizen on August 11, 2008 at 11:24 am (#800344)

Zod, you honestly can see the difference between a 94 MPH fast ball and a 96 Mph fast ball?

  19. Comment posted by Dep on August 11, 2008 at 11:25 am (#800345)

    never heard of Peeeeeter Ramos

2B Greg Veloz was promoted from the Savannah Sand Gnats to St. Lucie Sunday. Veloz leaves the SAL after hitting .286/.339/.402 in 455 AB over 111 G. Veloz had hit .258/.304/.352 in his first 267 AB before the All-Star Break, but had cranked that up to .324/.388/.473 in 188 post-break AB with more power and more patience. Veloz was 1-4 in his St. Lucie debut Sunday.

Peeter Ramos was promoted from St. Lucie to the B-Mets.

I suspect that Brooklyn and Savannah will also make corresponding moves.

Here’s the lineup for Monday’s series opener/finale/makeup game against the Pirates. Robinson Cancel is behind the plate, meaning Ramon Castro’s ankle is still troublesome.

    Reyes, ss
    Evans, lf
    Wright, 3b
    Beltran, cf
    Delgado, 1b
    Tatis, rf
    Easley, 2b
    Cancel, c
    Martinez, rhp

Pregame Notes: Castillo attends to ‘personal situation’

Here are some pregame tidbits from Shea:

    • Luis Castillo, rehabbing with St. Lucie, was given Sunday and Monday off to attend to a “personal situation,” Mets officials said. Jerry Manuel has revised his estimate for Castillo’s return, now suggesting he won’t be back during the upcoming three-game series in Washington. That defers a tough decision on Argenis Reyes, though the rookie is in a rut anyway.

    • There’s been no official decision on which pitcher will be demoted when John Maine is activated Wednesday, but it sures sounds like Brian Stokes is sticking around. Manuel indicated that in addition to relief work, Stokes could be used as a spot starter down the stretch to make sure other starters get extra rest. With Carlos Muniz giving up two homers Sunday and Eddie Kunz issuing a wild pitch and walk in that game in non-vital situations, it makes more sense to option Muniz or Kunz to the minors and bring him back Sept. 1. Stokes would need to clear waivers, too.

    • Manuel said Ramon Castro is not headed to the DL, even though the catcher “still has some pain” in his right ankle, according to the interim manager.

    • Today’s 1:10 p.m. first pitch may be delayed by rain.

This is not news. This is mets business as usual. Let’s play short handed and hope for the best. Who cares we have 20 games in a row with no break.
