    Oh well
We had to lose sooner or later. Maine was the pitts again.
Didnt he do this last year?? First half good, second not so good???

I’d say it’s more that Maine’s whole M.O. has seemed to be… the more he has artificially forcing him to focus, the longer he holds it together in a game.

Anecdotally, he seems to be so much better in big games than in giddy win-streak games against bad teams, after all.

Perhaps we’re left with the idea that… for as much as the exit of the Jacket’s “do what I tell you” attitude and the entrance of the Warthog’s “do what works” has helped Ollie and Pelfrey, maybe this has similarly harmed the affably scatterbrained Maine?

    It’s just a thought.

I don’t think so, LFM….Maine has been pretty inconsistent all year, even when the Jacket was still here

Agreed 71 on Maine. He gets MAD and then gets BAD

Since we (cards/mets) might be battling for a WC berth, I thought this might interest you guys. By all indications Carpenter is supposed to be back soon. Word around here is that with our closer situation looking dire, Wainwright , when he comes of the DL next week, will return to the closer role that he excelled in during 06. I find this kind of interesting. And it all hinges on Carpenters repaired arm. Also supposed to see Matt Clement soon. That I will believe when I see it.

Wild card’s coming out of the Central, T-Bone. For better or for worse, direct competition would only come if they’re both in the post-season.

Jeesh, El Duque is the pitching version of Moises Alou.

Wonderful, Why do I suddenly have visions of Scott Rolen and Yadier Molina jacking homeruns ;-)

I just saw that Maine has only gotten out of the 6th inning ONCE all season. That’s just not gonna cut it.

very true, I mentioned that before last night’s start

thankfully Ollie follows Maine tonight so hopefully Perez can get to the 7th - the pen could use a little rest!

I take it that yesterday’s game was rather bleh (I was at the Billy Joel concert - holy crap what a show) with more of the Maine inefficiency we’ve come to know and be aggravated by. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out with a little project idea I had.

We need a PITCHER and an OF yesterday.

Wow, really going out on a limb with that one…how ’bout I predict that El Duq won’t throw one inning all season with the Mets….I’m first with that one. ;-)
