Eric Simon has far too much time on his hands. He sleeps upside-down, keeps people as pets, and can be found on the internets at Amazin' Avenue or bothered directly at eric@metsgeek.com.

    FEZ WALKED!!

    Lagares and Veloz making strides.

LOL at having a 41 year-old on the GCL Mets. I think he’s a touch old for his level.

How would you like to be the poor GCL pitcher who has to pitch to Alou? Poor bastard…..

Who knows anything about Thole? Any word on his defense as a catcher?

He didn’t hit for crap last year, but he is sporting some pretty good numbers — especially for a catcher in the PSL.

    Reese, 6 k’s in first 10 ab’s. Not a great start!

Is it just me or does it seem like the NY-Penn league is very pitcher friendly and the Appalachian League is very hitter friendly.

  5. Comment posted by Ellis Dee on July 2, 2008 at 12:26 pm (#748118)

Thole was converted to C from 1B. He has put up very good minor league OBP numbers (.371 life-time) with little power. This year, at age 21, his power has increased. His BB have outpaced his K’s
every year except for one outlier.

I would also like to know how well he is adjusting to playing the catching position. If he can bring it defensively, he could be ready to contribute in a couple of years.

Thanks….I saw the offense, his OBO has always been good and he seems to be growing into his power.

Man, if he can catch worth a crap, he might turn into a decent ML catcher — I would take low power high OBP from a catcher
