Yeah, that’s sick. I don’t understand why the Penguins couldn’t give him a one year deal for $7 million though. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

And he only signed a 1 year deal with Dallas.

Almost like a final go around before he retires.

Evgeni Malkin has cashed in on five-year contract extension with the Penguins worth $8.7 million per season.
The deal is exact same that Pittsburgh gave to fellow phenom Sidney Crosby last summer. Malkin enjoyed an outstanding year, amassing 106 points in the regular season (second in the NHL), while posting 22 points in 20 playoff games. The Pens will now boast their two dynamic centers through the year 2013. Jul. 2 - 2:59 pm et

    Delgado’s highest K season was 50 below Dunn’s highest.

Delgado’s career batting average is 32 points higher (so even though their OBP is identical, Delgado is more valuable b/c hits are better than walks)

Dunn’s best season OPS+ wise is worse than 5 of Delgado’s seasons.

Dunn is not nearly as good as a hitter as Delgado was in his prime. Don’t forget that before A-Rod’s surge in Texas, Delgado was often considered the best hitter in the American League.

Moreover, before falling off a cliff last year, Delgado was well on his way to the HOF.

I don’t see Dunn being able to keep it going for another 7-8 years to even approach C-Del’s career numbers.

He sucks this season, but don’t forget what a beast he was.

Athletics signed RHP Michel Inoa to a minor league contract.
The 16-year-old from the Dominican got a $4.25 million signing bonus, and reportedly turned down better offers from the Reds and Rangers due to Oakland’s success developing young pitchers. One of the most highly touted international amateurs of the last decade, Inoa is expected to play in the Dominican Summer League this year. He may not be ready for full-season ball until 2010. Duaner said he can go tonight if they need him. looking iffy for Alou this weekend. It’s been raining in Fla and he hasn’t been able to play.

For the record….I don’t dislike Dunn, he is a good player in the right line-up and would look good in ours in the 4 spot, but I wouldn’t trade for him this season, and I wouldn’t say he could hold Delgado’s jock

  14. Comment posted by Ed in Westchester 2.0 is an optimistic yahoo on July 2, 2008 at 5:15 pm (#748571)

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. Will the same Rangers show up without him?

They have a lack of scrappy.

    They should sign Eckstein

    ####nutz!

    another new nickname for Schneider?

  16. Comment posted by sweetlew on July 2, 2008 at 5:17 pm (#748573)

    SS Jose Reyes
    LF Endy Chavez
    3B David Wright
    CF Carlos Beltran
    RF Ryan Church
    1B Carlos Delgado
    2B Damion Easley
    C Brian Schneider
    RP Pedro Martinez

Not a bad line-up. I like that Jerry had no compunction dropping Delgado behind Church

I agree. Delgado was a beast.

I wouldnt trade for him neither, i would look at him this offseason though

If the price and years are right, we would be totally stupid not to entertain Dunn.

He walks a ton, works pitchers into deep counts and smashes 40 HRs a year.

  19. Comment posted by sheadenizen on July 2, 2008 at 5:19 pm (#748576)

I wish Russo would ask Manuel about flip flopping Beltran and Wright, but Russo isn’t smart enough to know to ask it.

  20. Comment posted by Dep on July 2, 2008 at 5:20 pm (#748577)

I’m hoping that no one wants him based on average and K totals. they can think that all they want.

I would be very weary of a long-term deal, 3-4 years is all i’d wanna give

    Moneyball! undervalued asset!

I concurr Dep…I don’t see Dunn having much of a career past 32-33. He strikes out so much now, he loses an ounce of bat speed, and he is DONE.

    LOL joke time

A Priest was about to finish his tour of duty, and was leaving his Mission in the jungle where he has spent years teaching the natives when he realizes that the one thing he never taught them was how to speak English.

So he takes the chief for a walk in the forest. He points to a tree and says to the chief, ‘This is a tree.’

The chief looks at the tree and grunts, ‘Tree.’

The Priest is pleased with the response. They walk a little further and he points to a rock and says, ‘This is a rock.’

Hearing this, the chief looks and grunts, ‘Rock.’

The Priest was really getting enthusiastic about the results when he hears a rustling in the bushes. As they peek over the top, he sees a couple of natives in the midst of heavy sexual activity.

The Priest is really flustered and quickly responds, ‘Man riding a bike.’

The chief looks at the couple briefly, pulls out his blowgun and kills them.

The Priest goes ballistic and yells at the chief that he has spent years teaching the tribe how to be civilized and be kind to each other, so how could he kill these people in cold blood that way?

    The chief replied, ‘My bike.’

cool cool, best of luck planning the trip and with work n the kiddies.

yea, inconsistent teams will do that to ya.

I’ve accepted they suck, i just feel they possibly suck the least of any team in the NL East and will suck the least their way to the title.

    it has set me free.

maybe alou comes back and stays healthy, that happens and church keeps raking like he is, this team could do some things.

till then who knows, inconsistent they will be.
