Mike Pelfrey vs Jay Bergmann

Eric Simon has far too much time on his hands. He sleeps upside-down, keeps people as pets, and can be found on the internets at Amazin' Avenue or bothered directly at eric@metsgeek.com.

I believe Olerud struggled because Rickey didn’t know his name.

I miss John Olerud. Give me 8 John Olreuds and we’d have a WS team.

As well as the slowest team of alltime.

    Rickey being Rickey

damn you were right about Wally’s dentist man that is not a pretty sight for the ump to look at mid-tirade

Base clogging man has a job and Jerry Manual and Cito Gaston don’t.

Ump is thinking “Damn, not only can I still smell the chili dog he ate between innings but I can see all his cavities too. And isn’t it a little early for cocktails?”

I love the David Cross bit on Rickey constantly referring to himself in the third person, it’s hot

    .400, .447, .427

That was Olerud’s OBP for the Mets from 1997-1999 when he played for us.

Olerud was a marvelous hitter in his prime.

    135, 163, 128.

    Olerud’s OPS+ when he was a Met.

I miss John Olerud. Where is that type of a hitter? Where has he gone?

  15. Comment posted by Where have you gone John Olerud? on May 16, 2008 at 12:04 am (#694964)

Where have you gone, John Olerud,
Mets nation turns it’s lonely eyes to you.
What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson.
Jolting John has left and gone away,
    Hey hey hey.

There a few around still, a lot of them got suppressed in the rush for power during the Steroid era. Adrian Gonzalez of the Padres is that kind of hitter, James Loney of Dodgers, Nick Johnson is that style hitter.

Olerud is a rare breed, Ramon.

I’m off to the sack as well.

Night to all out there on the intertubes and LGM!
