Mets have that mediocre, to just above mediocre, odor to them. That could change if a healthy Pedro replaces Pelfrey or Figueroa in the rotation and Heilman or Dwayner start pitching well.
That big boy with the opera name (Pascucci?) is starting to provide some argument for replacing Delgado. “Problem” is, Delgado is starting to hit!
FMart with three more hits yesterday. And Niese seems back on track.

Bostick only pitched 3 innings, though they were effective. I hope it was planned, or rain, and not an injury.

“He [Santana] hit 93 once today,” said a National League scout at Shea, “but I had him around 90-91 on average, which is down a little from its peak. He still has a good fastball, and he’s always needed his changeup to be one to dominate. He just has a little less margin for error now.
Santana has grits and guts. He also had luck to not give up more runs yesterday (like the first inning). I would find this information worrisome for someone the Mets gave up 139 million plus four of their best prospects. On the other hand, Santana is usually mediocre at best the first 4-6 weeks of he season, so the hopes of having a superstar have not disappeared. if such performance keep up for another month, I’ll be worried. Yes, I can imagine some of my fellow Geeks coming down on me and suggesting that if you extrapolate his 4-2 record and 3.2 ERA for the remainder of the season, we should be quite happy. But the bottom line is, so far, he has only been mediocre.

Dave, without checking, I think Bostick pitched only a few days ago. If so, I don’t know why he pitched again, but then the 3 innings would be planned.

I take it back. So much for my memory. Before yesterday, Bostick pitched last on 5 May. But he did pitch three times between 30 April and 5 May. But that doesn’t explain why they stopped him after three innings on five days rest.

if a 52/13 k/bb ratio and a 130 ERA+ is “mediocre,” i’d LOVE to know your opinion of oliver perez’s performance so far.

If you looked at Santana’s home-road splits, you’d never guess that we play in a pitchers’ park. The road numbers are absolutely sick.

jessica–interesting. higher BABIP but lower OPS on the road. of course, he’s pitched about twice as many innings on the road so maybe we should let that even out before making any judgments.
