Eric Simon has far too much time on his hands. He sleeps upside-down, keeps people as pets, and can be found on the internets at Amazin' Avenue or bothered directly at eric@metsgeek.com.

Love Dan Murphy’s average. Retire now!
Carp, you so ugly, yet so beautiful.
Looking at this Jordan Abruzzo fellow that is off to such a good start. He was drafted in the 39th round of the 2006 Draft by the Red Sox but didn’t sign and went back for his senior year at San Diego. Then we picked him in the 13th round of the 2007 Draft. He’s definitely old-ish, he turns 24 in August, but he was a 4-year college player, of course.
He’s a really big, switch-hitting catcher though. 6′3″, 230 lbs
Someone worth watching.
Can Abruzzo play defense? He has a good last name for a catcher.
Dep, Based on his picture, he won’t win any beauty contests, but he is hitting.
Nice going AHern - not beow .200 anymore, and he’s going to be playing second base for the Mets before the season is over. Hang in there AHern!!
Eli, even AHern’s defense has digressed. Guess you didn’t get to see too much of him in ST. Don’t count on seeing him anytime soon. He’s playing exactly where he’s supposed to be…in the minors.
I have to laugh….I wrote digressed instead of regressed. But you got the point, right?
Aruzzo’s season was cut short (61 AB’s) last year by injury, but 6 of his 14 hits were for xtra bases. It’ll be interesting to see if he can move up at least a level during the season. It’s not like we’re stocked with big hitting catchers in the system.
6 more hits for the middle of that Binghamton lineup. That sample size is getting larger too. Combined, the three of them are hitting over .400 with 9 HR’s and 51 RBI in 208 AB’s. Now, if we could just merge them together into one guy, and teach him to play second base… (-:
Umm, that would be “Abruzzo” not Aruzzo. Coffee, coffee, coffee.
