I think you reached for Cano, but its not a horrible pick. He will outproduce other 2Bs (most of em) by a lot

I had the greatest draft of my fantasy life in an 8 team 9 X 9 league. I’ve never played in a 9 X 9 league and think there are some stupid stats being included in it.

    a 9×9 is INSANE! lol

I decided before the draft last night, I would take Utley, I took utley and Jose Reyes fell in my lap. Just like every other pick. I only had one guy picked by someone else that I had in que

    Here is the Cat’s.

I dont really see those position slots as having an overemphasis on up the middle.

there’s also the corner infielder and 5 OFs. it balances out imo.

    am i missing something?

    wow chris. that’s a lot!

Losses on the pitcher side is funny

This is the league these guys play in every year. Braves got picked like candy. Ex-Braves didn’t. I can’t believe I got Edgar in the 19th rd. Someone also took Jeter in the first round and someone else took Victor Martinez in the first round

Brave fans who love Braves and hate Mets. Ryan Howard was taken in the third rd, a pick before me or I would of gotten Utley, Reyes and Howard

Someone proposed a trade for Wagner. They offered Hoffman.

    i pick again at 61

  40. Comment posted by Lister on March 11, 2008 at 8:24 pm (#626837)

i think webb at 44 is above average… i’d say holliday is about par, maybe a little above average at 9, peavy is par at 18, cano is risky at 35, webb is a minor coup

I know the Cards will not compete this year, re-tooling or what have you…but this pitching staff is the worst I’ve seen…..Wainwright is the only decent starter….Pinero (not good anyway) hurt, Mulder, hurt, Carpenter hurt…Looper healthy but…..come on. Anthony Reyes and Wellmeyer are our 3 and 4 with the 5th slot anybody’s guess….

I miss the halcyon days of Andujar and Tudor.

  43. Comment posted by Lister on March 11, 2008 at 8:33 pm (#626839)

i think reyes will be markedly better than last year (not hard to do)… an ERA around 4.5 probably seems right… but yeah they are terrible

it’s a terrible team and if i were you i’d want pujols to get the surgery ASAP for 09

your enjoyment this year will be rasmus and ankiel, and getting a handful of healthy starts for carpenter, hopefully

    I like Reyes too.

  46. Comment posted by Jessica on March 11, 2008 at 8:42 pm (#626841)

Reyes is better than what he showed last year, although I still kick myself for taking him over James Shields when I was scanning the waiver wire shortly before Opening Day (I figured Reyes was the better bet because he’d be facing NL Central teams with a good defense behind him and Shield would be facing the Yanksox with a horrible D behind him).

  49. Comment posted by Lister on March 11, 2008 at 8:47 pm (#626843)

that one broke the wrong way for you, jess, to say the least. yikes.

i don’t see reyes ever breaking past a sort of middle of the rotation guy who can sprinkle in very strong starts from time to time… is he an injury concern? possibly…

his number 1 comparable is rather amazing: eric gagne.

though presumably w/out the steroid hgh cocktails

  50. Comment posted by Jessica on March 11, 2008 at 8:53 pm (#626844)

Well, Gagne was a failed starter before becoming the Eric Gagne everyone outside of Red Sox Nation knows and loves.

I eventually dumped Reyes in favor of Fausto Carmona, so it wasn’t a total disaster.

A sales rep, an administration clerk, and the manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp.

They rub it and a Genie comes out.

The Genie says, ‘I’ll give each of you just one wish.’

‘Me first! Me first!’ says the admin clerk. ‘I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world.’

    Puff! She’s gone.

‘Me next! Me next!’ says the sales rep. ‘I want to be in Hawaii , relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life.’

    Puff! He’s gone.

‘OK, you’re up,’ the Genie says to the manager.

The manager says, ‘I want those two back in the office after lunch.’

    Moral of the story:

Always let your boss have the first say

My achilles heel as a fantasy player is that I… can’t deal with the idea of cheering for a Brave or a Yankee ever, even on my fantasy teams, so I can’t have them on my roster… so I’m playing with 50 potential players tied behind my back.

I like to pretend that I’m just being nice to the other players, spottin’ ‘em some points but… no, no, I just feel dirty about the idea that I could have to want a Brave or a Yankee to do well.

I’m… kind of a weird guy, you see.
