here’s a better summary. from mbtn

So the Mets along with introducing Johan Santana to the press today updated their 40-man roster so as to provide uni numbers for several players for the first time. From the bottom, it’s

9 Marlon Anderson (switching from 23 for Brian Schneider)

    16 Angel Pagan

    19 Ryan Church

    38 Matt Wise

39 Jason Vargas (Vargas was 43 last season, we may see a flip with Stokes, below)

    43 Brian Stokes

49 Ruddy Lugo (Phillip Humber, we barely miss ye)

    61 Steven Register

Also worth noting is pitcher Adam Bostick in 72, giving him the highest number among the 40 men invited to camp. Among non-roster invitees, the deck is clear for Jose Valentin to take 22 and Ricardo Rincon to assume his usual 73.

    Angel Pagan

have we explored the irony in this man’s name?

the deck is clear for Jose Valentin to take 22

Damn, you know I keep forgetting we picked him up.
Willie was saying on the fan today that Gotay has to
improve alot to get a bench spot. Valentin may get that
spot. I was wondering why he was so down on the Goat but
    Valentin is probably the reason.

especially when paired with ryan church

throw in a couple of Jesus-es and Eddie Pope and we’ll have a really neat congregation

yea, willie seemed pretty down on gotay from what i’ve read of the comments.

he may not make the squad, we’ll see.

    I hate Mexico so much.

Willie is worthless. He’s destroyed any value we could have in Gotay. Now we’ll never get anything for him.

  15. Comment posted by Metswin2008 on February 6, 2008 at 10:49 pm (#606750)

Well, he didnt say he couldnt make the team, he just said he would have to work extra hard this spring. Maybe hes just pushing the kid. Valentin is coming off an injury so maybe he has them battle it out. Should be an intersting spring anyway.

“ben” laments the loss of bannister. sometimes i do too. that was a bad trade. but i guess omar is entitled to one bad one. nowhere near the colassal disaster of you-know-who for dicktor zambrainless..

lord omar brought us yo-han for next to nothing so all is right in blue/orange world..

irish hoops are rockin’, bob. we pounded the pirates of cheatin’ hall by 30 pts 2night. you got a dog in the big east race?

irish are 7-2 in the toughest conf in d1 ncaambb

st john’s beat rutgers but they will struggle to even make the big east playoffs. unfortunately the golden days of st john’s bb seem long past..

the one priest i know who went to st john’s turned out to be “one of the bad ones” you know what i mean .. he was kicked out and i think drank himself to death..

When did the Irish join the Pac-10.

  27. Comment posted by bcuster on February 7, 2008 at 12:27 am (#606761)

pac 10 & acc are pretty good conf’s, no doubt. but big east is the toughest top-to-bottom, imo…
