I tried to do a blog last year, but for various reasons it fell through. One of the main reasons being that I couldn't think of anything original to do. Everything I did just came out as just another recap or a poor man's Amazing Avenue. I didn't think I had a lot to add to the community.

But, I worked with some friends on their podcasts, as well as communicated with the makers of my favorite podcasts and figured I could actually use that medium to produce some decent content. I've been doing the technical stuff and learning how to run my own show.

I want to focus, not just on a weekly recaps, news bites, and history, but also talk about the fan community itself. Discuss fan made articles (like AA does), maybe discuss bars that cater to Mets fans, fan events around the area, maybe some Cyclones news and the Mets in the media.

What do you guys think? Would you be interested in that? Is there an audience there?

Any advice?

My only advice would be to find what uniqueness you're going to add to the the podcast market. I don't think there are many good Mets podcasts. If I were you, I would only concentrate on what you're passionate about and what you personally enjoy. If you have a particular niche, then take advantage of it. Concentrate on a particular topic for each podcast If you go to a Cyclones game, dedicate that week's podcast to the game.

It's hard to crack this market because of the excess of voices already out there, whether it be podcasts or Blogs

I primarily focus on prospects with my blogging. My writing hasn't even made a dent in the Mets blogsphere. There are guys talking about prospects that don't have a freaking clue. They don't have my sources, my access, my scouting ability and my memory bank (I remember almost everything) but they have somehow managed to get a bigger piece of the prospect pie. I write for enjoyment and I love feedback, both positive and negative feedback. I write here because I know someone will read and comment on whatever I present. If a link to what I write gets picked up by a bigger site, so be it (although it is pretty exciting). The Metsgeek community is my audience. When I write for Scouting the Sally, I know I'll instantly reach a bigger audience, a broader audience.

Just focus on passion and you'll be able to build something wonderful. If you need help promoting your podcast (if you chose to do one), I am happy to lend a helping hand whenever I can.

Well, one focus will be about the better blogs out there. I'll be more than happy to give you shout out when you put something up.
