I am rooting for the Jets but like the last 2 weeks, when I said the Bengals and the Chargers would win, I am going with the Colts to win. ;)

Some news and notes from the writers award ceremony


Beltran, who was unable to attend the dinner because he is rehabbing from knee surgery in Colorado, received the Joan Payson Award for community service. Mets general manager Omar Minaya accepted the award on Beltran's behalf, making no mention of the dispute between Beltran and the Mets over his surgery last week.

"I spoke to Carlos today," Minaya said. "Carlos has a wonderful, warm heart, and he feels if he succeeds, he wants to be able to give back to kids."

Minaya was seated on the dais next to Albert Pujols, who was there to receive his NL MVP award, and the two chatted at length during dinner.

Francoeur received the Ben Epstein/Dan Castellano Good Guy Award for, well, being a good guy. I spoke to him before the dinner and he said he is recovering well from offseason thumb surgery. He said Mets hitting coach Howard Johnson recently visited him in Atlanta for a hitting session at Georgia Tech

Jerry Manuel was there and presented the NL Rookie of the Year award to the Marlins' Chris Coghlan. "You asked me what I've been doing all winter with all these players being injured," Manuel said. "I told them I've been staying at home watching Dr. Oz. I got to watch him every day." Manuel praised Coghlan for his achievements, then closed his remarks by saying, "We got the Marlins the first series of the year. Chris, you ain't getting no hits."

Comedian Bill Scheft performed and created some awkward moments with cracks about several of the guests on the dais. He said the Mets would have a Tony Bernazard Appreciation Day next season - anyone who shows up without a shirt and challenges an usher to a fight gets in free. Minaya, who endured a number of jokes at his and the Mets' expense throughout the night, smiled uncomfortably.

For some reason the Jets loss doesn't bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. I actually feel very proud of the Jets. Most people didn't even think they belonged in the playoffs and they went on the road and beat two playoff teams. The Jets have a very bright future ahead....rookie QB, rookie Shonn Greene, Braylon Edwards is in his 20s, Darrell Revis is young, Leon Washington and Kris Jenkins will both be back next year. I'm already stoked for next year to start. PROUD TO BE A JETS FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

i'm ok bob. i watched the jets - hoosiers game without really rooting for either team. sanchize has a wealth of potential, but mannings' experience seems to have had won the day in the end...

plus rex's decision to try a 52 ydr vice punt into the coffin corner & let the defense stuff'm seems to have been a game-changer :(
