Heard some crazy rumor we almost acquired a catcher via trade during November. Would of been a let down type trade too. Believe the Mets nixed it.

For all those pooping on the Jets, saying they got lucky. How about giving the defense a little credit?
San Diego had scored at least 20 points every game this season.
Until yesterday.
Yeah, the kicker missed 3 FG's. Shit happens.
Had he made a couple, the Jets may have tighted up the D on the Chargers 2nd touchdown.
In any event, Whatever.
WE GOING TO INDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Precisely, Ed. In fact, Ryan apologized to the Jets fans after the game in his press conference for "going soft" in allowing that last SD drive. Given another chance, I bet he wouldn't do that again.

From Peter King, SI.com:
A cornerback can't play much better than Darrelle Revis did Sunday.
"We've got a ton of respect for Revis,'' Philip Rivers told me Friday at the Chargers' training facility, "but we're not going to avoid him. We'll take some shots at him.''
Oh really? Rivers went back to pass 45 times (40 passes, two sacks, three runs after being chased from the pocket), and I charted Revis' coverage pattern on every one of Rivers' pass-drops. By my count, Rivers threw four passes into the zone where Revis had primary coverage, or to the man Revis was playing man-to-man. One was complete, to LaDainian Tomlinson, for a loss of four yards. One, to Legadu Naanee, was batted down by a diving Revis on a cross route. One, to Vincent Jackson, a deep pass up the left seam, was overthrown, with Revis and Jackson running stride for stride. And the fourth, to Jackson, was up for grabs between the two, with Revis coming down with a juggled ball for an interception in a spectacular play.
Four times Rivers went at Revis in 45 pass calls. One completion, for minus-four. One interception. You cannot play the position better than Revis played it Sunday. I don't care if you're Deion Sanders or Night Train Lane. Revis put on a clinic, a masterful display of clinging coverage and bump-and-run when the situation called for it.
Everyone should keep saying that the Jets just got lucky to be where they are. The Jets seem to feed off it.
Rex Ryan: “You know what they are gonna say….Three Home Teams and the fucking Jets!!!!”
It’s amazing though: the NFLTV crew have stopped laughing at the Jets, Irvin have one foot on their bandwagon, and Mariucci flat out said “they’re a good team”. OTOH, Francesca listed down all the lucky breaks they got on the game before reluctantly giving them credit. I think he started his anti-Jets rant for radio schtick but he went too far and committed himself against them. He will come out swinging and get killed today.

The Saints, Vikings and Colts showed this weekend that they were who we thought they were. The Jets showed this weekend they were who they thought they were.

That stat epitomizes the Jets' sorry history.

Jets fans are too worried about what others are saying about them. Why don't you all just take a deep breath and enjoy the incredible ride. It's much more fun when it's totally unexpected and the world is against you.
Just relax. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. No one knows this better than a Giants fan. It's fun. Honest. Who cares what the pundits say?
GO JETS!! Shock the World!

So what if the Chargers played down to their competition. Bottom line is the Jets beat the team many thought was the best in the AFC. Maybe the best in all of football. That should carry them along way when they attempt to Shock The World part deux next week.
Go Jets!

Plus, as I said, the team does seem to get motivated with the us against the world approach. Heck their crazy coach encourages it.

BEIJING -- Two-time NBA All-Star Stephon Marbury will become the highest profile American to play in the Chinese Basketball Association after he agreed to join the league's Shanxi club.
The 32-year-old, a free agent since leaving the Boston Celtics last season, had agreed to a deal with the northern club and would arrive in Shanxi next week, the team announced on its official Web site.
"The aim of signing Marbury is to pay back our fans and try to win more games in the rest of the season," said Shanxi boss Wang Xingjiang.
The 2001 and 2003 NBA All-Star was expected to help boost Shanxi's ticket sales as well as their chances of making the playoffs. Shanxi is currently 15th in the 17-team league.
Wang added that Marbury's salary would not be too high because the former New Jersey Nets and Phoenix Suns player wanted to promote his personal brand of shoes in China.
Shanxi last season hired former NBA player Bonzi Wells, who scored as many as 50 points a game. The contract ended after less than two months when Wells went on vacation but failed to return on time.

Pretty crazy though. Threw the ump a nice, fat elbow across the face. Don't think it landed squarely. Still a douche move. Control the anger, dude.
Yeah, to Ollie's credit, he really seems to be working his ass off. Would have been nicer if he hadn't gotten fat after he signed hi big contract last year though.

Kaeding looked stoned.
Thomas Jones kept going down on phantom tackles. But he did get the most important 2 yards in the season so far. Thanks TJ and whoo-hoo Shonn Greene! And yeah, that'd an LDT patented flip.
Why do they insist on using Cotch for punt returns? He fair catches too much and dances around when he doesn’t. This is where we miss Lil Leon a lot, but use Brad Smith, for god’s sake.
Jim Lionheart is the MVP of the game for me. (And they even jobbed him on the catch and fumble overturn.)

I watched the 60 minutes report on football players from Samoa. Quite interesting. The Jets have one Samoan on the roster (Pitoitua). I wonder how they got so big since according to Discovery Channel’s Wild Pacific, which I was just watching earlier in the day, they were descendants of the Lapita tribe, originally from Taiwan, who are typically-sized Asians.

From the Onion
CINCINNATI—Within just a few minutes of Cuban pitcher Aroldis Chapman's arrival in the United States, Reds manager Dusty Baker had already overused and mangled the 21-year-old's arm beyond recognition, team sources reported Sunday. Baker, who has been accused of overtaxing young pitchers' arms in the past, reportedly greeted Chapman with a bucket of 250 baseballs and told him to "hurl them" as fast as he could, later encouraging the fastballer to "go nuts" with his pitching style. "He didn't even let me stretch out first," Chapman told reporters through an interpreter. "And when I started to wince from the pain and soreness, he just gave me a thumbs up, winked, and told me to keep throwing." At press time, Chapman had already been to the hospital for an oblique strain, a torn rotator cuff, and his second Tommy John surgery of the week.

The worst part for me was how long the ref waited to throw it. Your sideline went bonkers then he threw it. Either its a penalty all the way (which it was) or you let it go.
The PI on Jammer on that third down to me looked bogus because of how far away the ball was. But I bet on replay it was legit.

I'll say this though, the Jets did exactly what the Patriots did to Manning to get illegal contact in the rulebooks. There were mass muggings past 5 yards, including the terrible throw Rivers made for his second INT. Something you can't see on TV because they're not showing the downfield coverage unless the pass is thrown there.

That's not what the NFL said though in its explanation (there were a number of calls in to the league office about that call). The explanation was that the receiver hadn't held it long enough. Huh? What about that twinkletoes reception down the sideline later on by the Chargers? How long do you have to hold it for it to be a completion? That's a new one on me.
I still think it was a wrong call, esp since you have to have clear and convincing evidence to overturn the ruling on the field. Thankfully, it didn't matter.

Well his bobble reset the timer so you will to determine possession. Since he was bobbling it while he was first possessing it...when he finally brought it in he was dispossessed. I thought the call made sense but the NFL explanation was terrible.
On the sidelines play Jackson never bobbled it, so possession was quickly determined.

Millwood is just the sort of veteran presence the starting rotation needed, Gonzalez is a versatile reliever with the ability to close and corner infielder Atkins has to do better than he performed last year (as a bonus, he also comes with a second-year team option in case he returns to his old form).
don't need merriman when you have davis, jenkins, and henderson
rpi is flawed...top 25 in pomeroy! i don't think we make it to the tournament though, only 2-1 in the acc so far, should be 3-0

aaah fuck
San Diego - Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis broke his left hand against the San Diego Chargers, and his status for the AFC Championship Game in Indianapolis next Sunday is unknown. He should be able to play with a cast, but you have to wonder how effective he would be. Mike DeVito did a terrific job filling in for Ellis in San Diego. He beat G Louis Vasquez for a fourth quarter sack.

I dunno. Doesn't feel much like anarchy in here today. More like nap time.
I'm just pulling out of a major hangover haze myself...

yea, it seemed like the ref was convinced to throw it...just a freaky play. bad flag imo, bad decision by VJ too
yea that PI was close....he got him around the neck...the play that almost made me jump out a window was the fumble overturned to incomplete pass. i thought for sure the jets had it via the replays but apparently not! haha
That was the worst reply overturn I've ever seen. I mean I was laughing at the challenge when I saw the replays.

Are you on drugs? Seriously. Are you currently using crack?
The worst replay overturn you've ever seen is the Polamalu INT of Peyton Manning the year the Colts got upset in their own building. Polamalu caught it, rolled, popped up and fumbled. The guy watched it and overturned it saying INC. Now that is the worst replay overturn of all time.

I enjoyed the game and while not a die hard, was rooting for the J E T S
The game was not well played..the Jets really ran an extremely conservative (smart) game plan, and San diego didnt deal with it well..
The Jets secondary did a good job, and the blitz packages confused Rivers.
But Kaeding completely screwed SD by missing those two kicks (not 3 - cant complain about the 57 yarder).
Especially the late one, with no real chance to recover...Im not saying the Jets w have lost, or the dont deserve a LOT of credit, but SD cant stop run and were sending 8 to 9 guys on some running plays.
I think the Colts will be a far tougher challenge..Manning kills the blitz...but the Jets can not count on getting that good fortune again

SOP YO'S!

Screaming at my tv at the way Rex handling the end of the first half> I was content with going into the locker room down by 7. But Rex came out throwing on 1st down on his own 25.
The last time I puked from alcohol was the Jets v Chargers playoff game in 05 when Kaeding missed the OT FG. Brought back many good and bad memories. I woke up the next morning and my window blinds were on the floor covered in puke> That's what I get for trying to smoke a cigarette on my fire escape.
Whatever happens next week I take solice with our rookie having 3 ROAD playoff games under his belt. And to think the Jets are doing this without Jenkins who takes up 2 O lineman and Leon. If Jenkins comes back healthy next year he will take up 2 O lineman and if you put Revis on an island then the Jets D will have 2 more people that the offense. Bodes even better for the blitz. The fact that Bart Scott also said this Jet defense is going to be so much better next year when everyone comprehends all of Rex blitzes he had in Baltimore. This is just the beginning. We arrived a year early deep into the playoffs.

I'm more scared of Indy's D than their offense.
The best QB ever doesn't have the same deep threats SD has. Therefore they will have to work even more for their TD's. Colts have a very underrated D. They have the two best DE pass rushers in the game and play well against the run. Sanchez played with great poise yesterday albeit he only threw for 100 yards. I went to the Jets v Colts playoff game in 2001 and the Jets beat Peyton's Colts 41-0. That's right. Peyton's offense didn't score 1 point and he was in his 3rd year. Go Sanchez
Peter Gammons, in an appearance on NESN, said that the Red Sox and Jason Bay agreed to a four-year, $60MM pact in July, before an MRI raised concerns about both of his knees. As a result, Boston reduced their offer from four years to two years. Gammons suggested that this was an example of why an independent medical staff should be in place in the majors.

He doesn't explain why the Red Sox went 4/60 or so to Bay. So he seems to lack credibility there.

As much as I love Gammons, the dude is a ST holder for the Red Sox...has been a fan his whole life. It's hard to truly take him seriously when it regards the Red Sox.
I got you a present today dep.....I will send it directly.

LOL Norv about to get a 3 year extension?
Some guys just can't handle the pressure in the playoffs. Norv radically diverted from his offensive gameplan...Gates was basically open the entire game...Tomlinson was completely ineffective yet Norv fed him the rock. Sproles gets the ball three times and averages 11 yards a carry.
Turner has always shown too much loyalty to Tomlinson. Now they can finally let him go and draft a feature back.

Wait, can we not edit posts? I wanted to add, I think the Chargers realize they should have kept Michael Turner and put LDT out to pasture but didn't want to appear ruthless and put him out to pasture early.
