I blame Straw with his Rivera comparison for putting the idea in dumb jerry's head to use Mejia as a RP. Jer would've never figured it out on his own. This team is run by a ship of fools.

Eh, all the scouts have been screaming that Mejia's build reeks of future reliever. These are the same scouts that said the same thing about Pedro Martinez.

There's a reason they are scouts and not GM's. Well, except for Omar, that is. I guess it was his low initial price tag that appealed to the wilpons.

And every other team seems to have their ST games in HD. Not the mets!

We're joking but it's good to see the "old Ollie" for once. It'll be a relief to not know if he'll suck from game to game as opposed to knowing for certain.

Ollie was hitting 90-92 pretty consistently. I think I saw 93 once. In his last inning it seemed there were a lot more 88's. I saw a few balls hit hard, but not many. Of course I was doing other things while watching the game and missed bits and pieces.

Just went back to look at Ollie's start. Most of his FB's were 91-92 in the first 3 innings and 90-91 in the 4th. He hit 93 4 times, although 2 of those were wild. 2 balls were hit well. A sharp grounder to 1st and a liner to LF off of a 88mph FB (his last pitch in the 3rd) that pagan tracked down near the wall.

All-n-all, a promising start.

Ellis Dee
03-13-2010, 08:48 PM

Watching the Devils/Islanders game. Tavares really looks tired at this point. He looks slow on his feet and even his stick work. None of his early season explosiveness.

Ellis Dee
03-13-2010, 08:57 PM
LOL or maybe ollie was juiced.

From a more realistic perspective, the 3rd inning could have been his typical implosion inning. After getting the first 2 outs he proceeded to walk the next 2. Then he threw 88mph cheese that pagan made a nice play on. If he doesn't catch the ball its' a double and 2 runs score.

Yeah. Pronger for Shanny in hockey terms was an even deal. The only thing that screwed it up was that Shanny pissed and moaned about playing in Hartford and then got traded to Detroit.

He did do the MacInnis trade.

Gretzky didn't like Keenan from playing against his Flyers teams and playing for him in the Canada Cup. Then the Rangers had an opening and gave him the chance to reunite with Messier. Nothing was going to stop him from moving to NY based on that.

I once sat directly behind the visitors bench at a Blues/Maple Leafs game once in Toronto. Keenan had a habit of resting his hand on the ledge and curling his fingers between the shelf and the plexiglass. My drunken friend kept pounding on the glass trying to smash his fingers. I was certain that we were going to get thrown out of the game. And we were on television a good bit. New York Jets coach Rex Ryan underwent a weight-loss procedure Saturday to help him fight obesity.

The husky Ryan had lap-band surgery at NYU Medical Center, and was relaxing at his home Saturday night in New Jersey, team spokesman Bruce Speight told The Associated Press.

Speight said Ryan also had a hernia repaired.

The New York Daily News first reported the story on its Web site Sunday morning.

The outpatient procedure came a day after Ryan and the Jets wined and dined free agent running back LaDainian Tomlinson, trying to persuade him to join the team that had the league's No. 1 rushing offense last season.

The 47-year-old Ryan frequently has poked fun at himself and his rotund midsection, including after unflattering belly-baring photos of him changing into a Hurricanes jersey during a Florida-Carolina NHL game last month floated around the Internet.

"I'm watching ESPN and I'm like, 'Whoa, that's not a real good shot,' " Ryan said during the NFL combine. "I mean, don't get me wrong, I get hit on all the time by women."

Ryan also partially blamed his weight for him not getting the head coaching job with the Atlanta Falcons after the 2007 season. He thought he was a shoo-in for the job that eventually went to friend and former Baltimore Ravens colleague Mike Smith.

"I think I was too fat," Ryan said with a laugh in December.
Good for him

Duke and WVU will be pitted against each other anyways........so to me weakest 1 or strongest 2 doesnt really matter. WVU will beat Duke IMO

DL
03-14-2010, 05:37 PM
wvu can be pretty brutal on offense though

they could def get upset before that. duke could too b/c they rely too much on a few players

John
03-14-2010, 05:38 PM
I'm just happy Duke isnt playing in North Carolina this year :)

John
03-14-2010, 05:38 PM
Remind me of UK.......shooting can be shaky at times but they rebound so well they get so many second chance points

John
03-14-2010, 05:39 PM
I want a touch screen like Lunardi has lol

DL
03-14-2010, 05:51 PM
ha, someone on my maryland board is dropping bracket spoilers all over the place

John
03-14-2010, 05:53 PM
haha what are they saying? lol

DL
03-14-2010, 05:55 PM
lol that's where my duke "rumor" came from

John
03-14-2010, 05:56 PM
I think it makes sense Duke being the 4th 1 or 1st 2nd seed

DL
03-14-2010, 05:57 PM
apparently 2 seeds are wvu, osu, nova (?), and kstate

bcuster
03-14-2010, 05:57 PM
thanks for the compliments about nd, guys. there was serious talk here about dumping brey after that home loss to st john's. lol that was rock bottom.. but the team found some guts & started to play some "d" (maybe inspired by the lady irish)

... and who knows where they go from here..

the 8/9 seed is brutal...

John
03-14-2010, 05:57 PM
oooh man.
I didnt wanna see nova on the 2 linie lol

John
03-14-2010, 06:00 PM
I'm pumped up

I missed this last year lol

John
03-14-2010, 06:00 PM
I wonder if stjohns and WKU see the NIT lol

bcuster
03-14-2010, 06:00 PM
no insult to st john's. but we had just had brutal losses to rutger's seton hall & cincy

and a lot of us had just had had it w/brey at that point...

DL
03-14-2010, 06:02 PM
lol let's just say that based on what i'm reading that the BIG BEAST is very highly regarded

John
03-14-2010, 06:03 PM
whoa duke over cuse for the 3rd 1 seed?

DL
03-14-2010, 06:04 PM
that's the only slight on the big east

John
03-14-2010, 06:05 PM
Wow.

John
03-14-2010, 06:07 PM
rather play Duke then Cuse in the final four game anyways :)

John
03-14-2010, 06:09 PM
Its almost as if we are the overall 1..........because IMO we got paired with the weakest 1.

DL
03-14-2010, 06:11 PM
i hate msu as a potential 2nd round opponent

John
03-14-2010, 06:13 PM
izzo teams do well in the tourny but they arent as good this season

DL
03-14-2010, 06:14 PM
wow tennessee got screwed

John
03-14-2010, 06:15 PM
lmao UT a 6

That blowout loss really hurt them

DL
03-14-2010, 06:15 PM
lol that whole bracket is death

ku, osu, gtown, md, msu, tennessee

with g tech as a 10 lolz

DL
03-14-2010, 06:20 PM
lolololol the gators

John
03-14-2010, 06:21 PM
oh no

i dont wanna get paired with WVU

John
03-14-2010, 06:22 PM
so UT gets a 6 seed

and Florida gets in at a 10 seed.

UT wayyyy too low
UF wayyyy too high

DL
03-14-2010, 06:23 PM
minnesota really shouldn't be in

florida too

vols should be a 3 or 4 seed, no idea how they wound up a 6

John
03-14-2010, 06:24 PM
and they have a committee pick these seedings?

My god they are horrible

bcuster
03-14-2010, 06:25 PM

WVU?

DL
03-14-2010, 06:31 PM
how far did purdue drop lol

John
03-14-2010, 06:32 PM
Thats bs

WVU could have been a 1...........at least one of the better 2's and should be pitted against Duke or Cuse............thats crap.

2nd round matchup vs Texas? Sheesh

John
03-14-2010, 06:32 PM
perdue didnt drop
they will be the 2 in the Duke region *rolls eyes

i think they will be 4

DL
03-14-2010, 06:33 PM
texas or wake in the 2nd round

that kinda sucks for uk

DL
03-14-2010, 06:38 PM
told you the big east gets insane respect

nd a 6 is crazy

John
03-14-2010, 06:39 PM
I don't understand it.

And as the 2nd 1 seed....we have to go to new orleans, not milwaukee?

John
03-14-2010, 06:40 PM
kansas and UK the two best teams got the two toughest roads

DL
03-14-2010, 06:41 PM
duke gets the easiest road wtf

John
03-14-2010, 06:43 PM
think about the south
2. Nova who plays zero defense
3. Baylor
4. Purdue who is without their best player
5. Texas AM

Unbelievable.

03-14-2010, 06:44 PM
temple as a 5 is a flippin joke...the selection committee's full of idiots

John
03-14-2010, 06:45 PM
I knew they were a joke when I saw Duke as the 3rd 1 seed over Cuse.

DL
03-14-2010, 06:46 PM
this is truly one of the worst brackets ever

kansas is the best team and gets a bracket filled with reg season/tourney champs of major conferences

duke is the worst 1 seed (or should be, i guess they were 3rd) and get a fucking cakewalk

John
03-14-2010, 06:50 PM
all picked WVU over UK lol

nightmare for me

wait a second he just said he threw them in for consideration........then how come they werent the highest 2? WTF

John
03-14-2010, 06:52 PM
you cant say this is based on an S Curve when u take the best 2 seed and put them with the second best 1 instead of the weakest 1.

sheadenizen
03-14-2010, 06:53 PM
I can't believe Duke gets the nod over Syracuse. These guys are morons. They must work for the Mets in the off season.

John

It may work out for Syracuse tho lol

Maine didn't make it through 1 inning. What's his excuse? I didn't like that he said afterward he wasn't comfortable coming in in the 5th inning. What difference did it make? He didn't come in with guys on 2nd and 3rd and 1 out for cryin' out loud. You're a pitcher....pitch, dammit!

DL
03-14-2010, 07:11 PM
i just wanted cc to get the johan treatment :(

maine does suck though

sheadenizen
03-14-2010, 07:18 PM
Johan sounded pretty good today....can't say looked....because I only heard it. I didn't see it. And Ed Coleman said that 2 of the hits he gave up should have been caught. One Cora didn't get to that Coleman said he should have handled and the other I think was misplayed by Franceour, but I'm not positive about that. It might have been that Luis went out and Jeff came in and no one called it or something.
I know you're shocked, DL.

DL
03-14-2010, 07:31 PM

Are you upset about Kentucky's seeding?

sheadenizen
03-14-2010, 07:41 PM
Not seeding....I meant bracket!

John
03-14-2010, 07:55 PM
I just don't see how Kansas and UK.....the two clear cut best teams end up with the hardest brackets while Duke and Syracuse get it easy....especially Duke.

And then to go on TV....the chairman guy saying that WVU was considered for a 1 seed and then to place them in OUR bracket when the strongest 2 is supposed to play the weakest 1. It doesnt make any sense. I honestly think WVU will beat us in the Elite 8 and whats worse is ill never hear the end of it lol. It's a no win for me lol.

And to put Duke in front of Syracuse.........to make cuse go out West just isnt right.

UT only a 6 seed?
Florida in...........as a 10? They shouldnt even be in the tournament.

And here I thought mets management was awful at their job lol

bcuster
03-14-2010, 08:03 PM
notre dame a sixth seed? merry christmas. but we will take it and an opening round game against old dominion? wow i 'emember when they was a powerhouse womens' team. and from my old backyard in norfolk. lol!

sheadenizen
03-14-2010, 08:07 PM
The truth is after the first 4 seeds in each bracket, the rest are basically arbitrary, imo. I agree I would have seeded some teams higher and some lower, but in the long run...it probably won't matter.

DL
03-14-2010, 08:07 PM
odu is pretty good, it may as well be an 8/9 game

the more i look at the midwest, i wonder wtf they were thinking

the 7/10 game has three potential lottery picks in it lol

John

odu won one of the toughest mid-major conferences in the reg season and tournament. beat gtown as you said. crushed a decent charlotte team. had tough battles with lots of good teams: mizzou, richmond, northern iowa. they're really strong on D and have a solid big man who is a double-double machine

DL
03-14-2010, 08:30 PM

This bracket is horrible. Give Duke a chance to get to the final four and screw over the top 2 teams in the country. I really have no problem for once about the teams that missed. I think a case could of been made for Miss St. CBS was shocked at the Illini not making it in. I laugh at that.
