Kyle snyder was a top ten draft pick of kc that crashed and burned. Blackey is an Aussie left hander. He's in camp because the accent of the Aussies has always comforted him. Jerry is a big Paul hogan fan.

of course
Daily News today said Kerry was not loved in the locker room.
also said his nickname in the locker room was "CARRIE"
lolololololol
and the kiss of death: "REVIS DIDNT LIKE HIM"
PEACE!
Author admits these are all unconfirmed
* Just before the playoffs, Kerry and Thomas Jones got into a scuffle where both threw punches. I was told that TJ won the fight but both players had to be pulled off each other.
emesola: The coaches also had to pull Rhodes and Jones apart. The brawl happened right before the playoffs. Rhodes’ last straw.
* Another rumor is that Kerry was disliked very much by Darrelle Revis. The only time the two spoke was on the field. (If you look at both Twitter interactions throughout the year, they never talked with each other). All the other players did interact with each other, but not these two, again, take it with a grain of salt.
* Kerry didn’t like the attention others were getting and created a wedge between him and his other teammates.
* A lot of the players started to refer to Rhodes as “Carrie”.
* Seemed like the only player that got along with Rhodes was Braylon Edwards.

Carrie's mouth is bigger than his play. I think Rex likes dudes with some swagger but only if their play matches that. Plus Rex likes to be front and center.

It's always been Eagles first and then for most of the first half of the last decade it was the annual Flyer meltdown. Usually at the hands of the Devils.
Even 2006 the most prominent Philly-Mets moments I can remember were Aaron Rowand busting up his face and the 15 inning game that Beltran won. Philly still had the Eastern Division version of the Cubs cloud casting over them.

To be honest, Philadelphia fans give two shits about the Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers when they're not winning big. Some of the best hockey I've ever watched was eBaying Flyers tickets during poor seasons. We're talking $50 row 16 off the ice tickets.
Philadelphia is and forever will be a football town. Phillies fans are joking themselves if they think they have a real fanbase.

I went to my fair share of Yankees games in the mid 80's. 1 reason being that it was easier to get to from Westchester and another being that we got free tickets a couple of rows behind home plate. I think my dad (who was a Brooklyn fan) liked taking me there because the stadium was usually close to empty and there weren't as many drunks. I seem to remember Mets crowds were a lot rowdier.

Interesting. The Flyers have been a pretty consistent team since they won their Cups in the early 70's. They were still relevant throughout most of the 80's and had their down period in the early 90's but they've at least had playoff caliber teams most of the time I've followed hockey. I also think Philly fans like any sport that involves legally fighting.

Brian Bruney

JUPITER, Fla. — The trick, at this point, is swimming through the muck in order to reach the cooling waters, clawing through the clouds in order to find the sun, tip-toeing through the trip-wires of grimness in order to find something . . . else.
It isn’t easy. Just walk into the Mets’ clubhouse at Tradition Field, and over in a corner you can talk to Francisco Rodriguez, whose exercise regimen the past week consisted of playing catch with (and spreading pinkeye to) his brother, Edward. His mere presence here ahead of schedule had a few Mets officials spying him like Typhoid Mary.
Or you can take a look at Kelvim Escobar, whose troublesome right wing looks so debilitated now you wonder if he could properly buckle his belt. Or you can take a walk to the far side of the room, where Jose Reyes’ locker sat empty and silent while its star tenant was back in New York City having his thyroid tested. Or you could just wait for Oliver Perez to wander by and offer a flatulent critique of yesterday’s back pages critiquing him . . .
Yes, there are days when if you choose to view the Mets through the prism of a half-empty glass, it isn’t all that hard to do.
The wonder of spring training, of course, is that there is also an alternative, if you want to seek that path. There are always journeymen like Chris Carter, who hit a couple of home runs in the ninth inning yesterday in the Mets’ 11-2 pounding of the Marlins, and meteors like Ike Davis, who had two more hits and raised his spring training batting average to a robust .588.
There is Jenrry Mejia, playing the best spring-training part of all, the kid pitcher with the electric arm who falls out of the sky, throwing three more scoreless innings, pushing his manager over the moon with puppy love, looking and talking like a big leaguer already.
“I can start, I can close, I can relieve, I can do whatever it is they want me to do,” the 20-year-old Mejia said.
“He wears No. 76 and K-Rod is No. 75, if you know what I mean,” Jerry Manuel said, and if you have no idea what Manuel means (and don’t feel bad if you don’t), he meant he could envision 76 setting up for 75 soon. Very soon.
All of that stuff is nice.
None of it may be as meaningful as watching John Maine throw 12⁄3 innings and 39 pitches of sharp and pain-free ball. The Mets’ most pressing question mark, painted in bright phosphorescent colors, is the meat of their rotation. And after watching Mike Pelfrey and Oliver Perez get hammered for two straight days — no matter how happily the Mets tried to spin those outings — it was especially encouraging to see Maine look as he did yesterday, allowing two hits and a walk, recording four of his five outs via strikeout.
“It’s very important for us to stabilize that 2-3-4 part of our rotation, there’s no question about that,” Manuel said. “Everything we do hinges on that for us. And we can’t afford to be getting into a depth situation with them early.”
Which means Pelfrey, Perez and Maine have to approximate their optimum past performances, which for the first two means channeling 2008 and for Maine means pitching as he did for much of 2007. Remember, it was the next-to-last day of that ‘07 season — a borderline All-Star year for him — when Maine nearly no-hit the Marlins in a do-or-die 161st game, a performance every bit as epic and heroic as the one Johan Santana turned in during No. 161 a year later.
“I know the kind of pitcher I can be because I’ve seen it,” said Maine, whom the Mets are still bringing along slowly but whose fastball popped as it hasn’t since before his arm woes started. “But now it’s about getting that performance for six months solid. I know what this team needs from me.”
It is small. But it is something. Especially at a time when the Mets so badly need to find some way to keep their glass filled — or at least half-filled — with optimism.

Thrashers are in the thick of the playoff race right now. It would be a big EFF YOU to the haters (I'll include myself in that category) if they make the playoffs after everyone assumed they were waving the white flag following the Kovalchuk trade. The folks at ESPN 1320 in Sacramento tweeted yesterday that the rumors linking Washington to the 49ers are heating up. Though the pot is not yet boiling, something definitely is going on.
Per a league source, Washington has spoken with the Niners. There is some interest; however, no visit has been scheduled yet.
Other teams are also interested, we're told. We don't currently know who they are.
By tendering Washington at a second-round level only, the Jets have invited teams to sniff around the all-purpose tailback. The leg injury could scare some of them away. With the deadline for signing restricted free agents to offer sheets coming eight days before the April 22 draft, it might be that no one will be ready to take a chance on him before it's too late to do so.
Johan sucks. We're doomed.

Mixed signals on possible Coles return to New York
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 9, 2010 1:35 PM ET
Jets G.M. Mike Tannenbaum's comments regarding Laveranues Coles Monday show how the same quote can be interpreted different ways by different reporters.
A few reports made Tannenbaum's words sound encouraging. After all, he texted Coles and said he all the respect in the world for him.
But Bob Glauber of Newsday interpreted things differently. Since we agree with his take, we'll repeat it.
"Tannenbaum sounds rather lukewarm about Coles coming back," Glauber tweeted. "Saying the right things, but my sense is it won't happen."
Coles doesn't sound like a priority, that's for sure. "Maybe at some point, but we'll see," Tannenbaum said about a possible deal. "Nothing's imminent . . . we'll see where that goes."
We suspect it will go until after the draft, assuming Coles can't find another team before then. If the Jets still have room, perhaps they will sign him to a one-year deal to compete for a roster spot.
No matter what happens, it's clear Coles will not command close to the same salary he made in Cincinnati or what he used to make in New York.
Giants land Sorgi
Posted by Mike Florio on March 9, 2010 12:57 PM ET
Quarterback Jim Sorgi will continue to be a backup. And he'll continue to work behind a Manning.
But it no longer will be Peyton; it will be Eli.
Giants' V.P. of Communications Pat Hanlon posted the news on his Twitter page. Hanlon says Sorgi will compete with Rhett Bomar.
And if you don't know who Rhett Bomar is, then Sorgi has the clear edge..

Pennington slated to be third quarterback
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 9, 2010 11:47 AM ET
Chad Pennington did not return to Miami to challenge for playing time. He probably won't even be the team's backup quarterback.
That's the word from Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald, who writes that the plan is for Pennington to be the No. 3 quarterback behind Chad Henne and Tyler Thigpen.
Pennington reportedly wanted to return to the Dolphins partly because he returned from his last shoulder surgery too quickly. In Miami, he will be able to take his time rehabbing and ideally stretch out his career. (He now wants to play for five more years and be the new Kurt Warner. Or Vinny Testerverde.)
Since it's our job to look for ulterior motives, we can't help but wonder whether this news is intended to drive up the pricetag if anyone sniffs around Thigpen.
Pennington is making $2.5 million this year, which is a lot to pay for veteran guidance and clipboard holding.

the NFL HAS TO suspend (with pay) Big Ben the moment charges are filed, if they dont, boy they better be prepared for the shit storm that rains on down upon them
and that trial could take FOREVAHHHHH. Ben could miss a good part of the season
.
Jim Sorgi's agent didn't expect a deal on Monday but was hopeful it would come soon.
It did. On Tuesday, Sorgi got his contract.
The Giants signed Sorgi to a one-year deal after their doctors conversed with some other physicians who have examined Sorgi's shoulder. Obviously, they got the answers they were looking for and the ones Sorgi's agent said he was hoping to provide.
"The team doctor talked to (noted orthopedic surgeon) Dr. (James) Andrews. He has a history with Jim," Sorgi's agent, Matt Brei, said by phone. "It was a matter of everybody getting comfortable, so we got the doctors in contact and everything was cleared. That's where a little bit of the holdup was."
After six seasons as Peyton Manning's backup, Sorgi now has the inside track to back up Eli Manning. Sorgi will receive competition from Rhett Bomar, last year's fifth-round pick, in training camp.
As of Monday afternoon, it wasn't clear if Sorgi would get that chance. Brei indicated the sides would remain in contact, which is often a phrase thrown out by agents to make it seem there's more interest in their clients than there actually is. But give Brei points for his honesty because he said he was still hopeful for a deal and that he was simply trying to provide more information for the Giants' medical staff to make that deal happen.
"(Sorgi) cleared everything physically (with the Giants); it was just clearing up what happened last year and talking through it," Brei said. "He didn't fail any physical or anything like that."
Obviously not because Sorgi is now a Giant and Brei said he's "very excited" about that development.
The Giants will have quotes from Sorgi shortly in a press release.

Johan Santana allowed four runs on six hits in one and two-thirds innings against the Astros on Tuesday afternoon, including a first-inning homer to Kazuo Matsui. Here's what the ace had to say after his 47-pitch effort (33 strikes):
"They made me work today. They were swinging right away. But I felt good because I was able to throw all of my pitches. I was a little bit off with my mechanics, releasing the ball. That's part of spring training. That's what we're here for, trying to make adjustments and throw all of my pitches. The good thing is I felt good. I didn't feel any problem in my arm. So that's good."
Regarding today's success by the Astros against him, Santana added: "Today I threw some fastballs that were all right, and then some fastballs that kind of ran away. That's something I'm able to tell and to see and feel that it's not there on a consistent basis. But as we go in spring training and we throw bullpens, we'll get better."
Asked if it bothers him as a competitor when he's getting pounded, the ace said: "It's not the first time it happened that I'm in spring training that they swing right away and they put the ball in play. At the same time I'm trying to stay with them, trying to get people out. But I'm not trying to go too crazy. I know it's my first time on the mound (in a game) since August. It's going to take some time. We all know that."
Santana opened his Grapefruit League season by striking out Michael Bourn with a changeup. Matsui then homered on a 1-2 fastball.
"I got that action," Santana said about the changeup to Bourn. "It's a good sign for me. ... But the pitch that I really liked today was my slider. I threw some to righthanded hitters and they swung and missed. To me, it's a big plus. I know the numbers are whatever, but I don't really care. I just care about how I feel and everything that I was able to
Specifically regarding Matsui's homer, Santana said: "We were trying to throw a fastball inside. I don't know. He got in front of it and then hit it out. But, again, those are the kind of things that you work on in spring training. You try to work on your location so that you don't miss your spots."
On his health, Santana said: "This is my first time, I can say, since August that I faced hitters in a game situation. I haven't done that in a long time. And I only did it once about a week ago (in a simulated game). And it's not the same because these guys get on base, you have to watch the runners and all that. But it's good to finally be on the field in a real game and work. ... Mentally, you feel good, because that's one of the big steps that you have to make, to finally get into a real game and see how your arm reacts to that surgery. Overall I feel pretty good. ... All I can say right now is I feel pretty good. I'm able to let everything go, and all I have to do is build up my strength. (Last year), not just my changeup, but everything, I wasn't able to finish. Everything. I wasn't able to extend and bend my elbow, so it changed the whole thing."
On working with Henry Blanco: "We haven't worked together in a long time. But it's good."
lebron must be the only guy who lived up to the SI pre-achievement megahype

I really don't get it. The Jews had it a little worse than black people did. They suffered through Egypt, then the whole Europe thing, then to come to much anti semitism. I'm neither black or Jewish, so maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way. But, why is it that black people, or the ones on the bandwagon feel like they are entitled to something? I have come into contact with customers, even employees that think me following policy is racially motivated. Like the time I politely asked a black worker to trim her 10 inch nails. There comes a time when you realize, especially in my area of the country that my family, and I had absolutely nothing to do with segregation or extreme forms of racism. I'm not going to say I haven't had a negative thought about a black person, because that would be a lie. I don't think anyone hasn't had a prejudiced thought. Which brings me to my point. We are on an even surface now. A black person can get into the same school as me, get the same job as me, move into the same neighborhood as me, buy the same car as me, send their kids to the same school as me, be treated in the same hospital as me, be buried in the same cemetery as me, etc. There comes a time to just move forward. Sure there have been some dicks, but to harbor on that and that only really holds their group back in society, and to themselves. Not every white person who is successful today had a cake walk to their position. Life isn't easy. Get over it.
Yes, people ARE this stupid.
