Love, love, love the title, Timmy! :)

And we are prepared! Kind of. In a missing-the-better-part-of-our-line-up kind of way.

Still. Bring it!

Since Sandy Alderson said at Dodger Stadium he would judge next 10-12 games before dismantling, #Mets are 2-6. We're days away.

SI.com lists PHL, SF, DET, MIL, ATL and BOS as potential Beltran suitors. I've heard firsthand DET, ATL and SF.

Mets 12 out in division behind Phillies, 9 1/2 behind Braves in wild card. And I believe #Braves sincerely are interested in Carlos Beltran.

Seriously, does it matter if the Mets traded Beltran to the Braves over the Giants? Does it sting more if Atlanta wins pennant?

It's not like they're trading David Wright to Braves, where they'd have to face him in future seasons in that uniform when it matters.

Terry Collins predicts Carlos Beltran will play Tuesday.

If the Braves send Venters and Kimbrel back, I'll drive Carlos to Atlanta!

Well, it only matters if you are actually a Mets fan. In which case, it is a critical and huge distinction.

But I suppose the rest of the world is indifferent.

Sandy's prepared for the war of teams that are lining up to pilfer + purge us.

In the end, victory,..... a great calm and peace will settle upon Queens.

I respectfully disagree Athena...from my point of view. It only matters if you think the mets could actually win the WC this year. I don't. So if they can get good prospects from Atlanta ( who usually does a fairly good job of scouting) I'll bite the bullet. I don't believe the Braves will sign him for next year...so it's a rental. I can live with it.

Atlanta also does a good job of trading away their shitty prospects and keeping the good ones, see Texiera, Mark trade among others.

Now, do I care who they trade him to? Short of the Phillies, no.

Just get the best deal you can Sandy.

We're not afraid

And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin. And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu... And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.

I hear you. I completely agree that if Atlanta was going to give something of lopsided value, I'd have to live with it. But I don't expect that to happen.

But the question was whether I'd prefer him to play into the post season with the Giants or Atlanta. And I do have a preference. As a matter of practice, If I''m choosing, I'd much rather he go out of division than in. No question in my mind on that point. ;-)

A source with ties to the Mets said Philadelphia is looking at more than Carlos Beltran. The Phillies also are at evaluating Scott Hairston as a right-handed bat and Tim Byrdak as a left-handed reliever.

Philadelphia has a scout at the Mets-Cardinals game on Tuesday. In fact, there is a large contingent of scouts at the stadium.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have released right-handed reliever Aaron Heilman to make room on the roster for Tuesday night's starter Barry Enright.

Heilman was 4-1 with a 6.88 ERA in 32 games with Arizona. The right-handed Enright was recalled from Triple-A Reno to make the start against Milwaukee after struggling left-hander Zach Duke was demoted to the bullpen.

The 25-year-old Enright opened the season in the Arizona rotation but was sent down after going 1-3 with a 6.49 ERA in six starts. At Reno, Enright was 8-2 with a 4.29 ERA in 12 appearances. Enright is 7-10 with a 4.58 ERA in parts of two seasons with the Diamondbacks.

I just checked and Aaron has a .4 cumulative WAR in 9 seasons, including a minus 1.4 since the last of his 3 good years with the Mets.

Thats not even average

As for the playoffs, I dont base anyones career on one point in time, but he did have a penchant for giving up big hits
