Be afraid. Be very afraid.
From Cerrone
The initial lineup today had Jose Reyes hitting third. However, he has since been replaced by Ruben Tejada, who will play shortstop and hit ninth.
…he’s walking around fine in the locker room… or, at least he looks like he has since he’s been here… so, who knows… hopefully, this is no big deal… but, forgive me if i am a bit paranoid… the word from the team is that he needs to go to the doctor to complete his physical… i’m sure that is true, but forgive me for being paranoid when hearing reyes and doctor in the same sentence…
Gary Matthews Jr. will instead bat leadoff today, followed in order by Luis Castillo, David Wright, Jason Bay, Daniel Murphy, Jeff Francoeur, Fernando Tatis, Henry Blanco and Tejada.
R.A. Dickey and his knuckleball will be today’s starting pitcher, with Jenrry Mejia set to pitch in relief.
Today’s game will air on SNY at 1 pm.

PORT ST. LUCIE -- Mets shortstop Jose Reyes was scratched from Thursday's lineup for follow-up lab work related to his team physical.
Reyes said Thursday after a second round of blood work that he feels fine and it's not related to the torn hamstring that sidelined him most of last season.
"They tell me what I have to do is more important than the game today, so I have to make sure I am ready to go when I step on the field," Reyes said. "It's nothing with my leg."
Reyes is scheduled to have another doctor's appointment Thursday afternoon. He did not provide any specific reasons for the tests except to say that it's part of a routine physical.
"They do the tests because they want to make sure everything is fine," Reyes said.
Reyes was removed from Tuesday's lineup along with several other regular starters because of wet field conditions.

And I should add, that I don't think Citifield is the disaster that a lot of people claim. It has some flaws, but it is beautiful, IMO. And it's gotten tarred with the same brush as the rest of the season and taken an unfair portion of the blame for the team's weaknesses. Hard to love a stadium that has brought so many painful, frustrating moments in such a short time.
I think people's minds will change about it, whenever the overall performance starts to improve. When Wright, Beltran and Reyes start hitting HR's, people are going to get mighty fond of those walls! ;-)

When Wright, Beltran and Reyes start hitting HR's, people are going to get mighty fond of those walls! ;-)
I think that's partially true, Athena.

I hate to say it, but I love CBP. I think it's actually my fave ballpark. Believe me, it doesn't make me happy to say that....although I do think Citi has better food.
It's pretty sweet from all angles, too bad they made it a band box. Have you ever been to the bar/restaurant that sits between the gates before gametime?

Yep, I have Nye. Is that what they're doing with Mcfaddens? Not sure where it's going?
The other problem with Citi...which is not the mets' fault is that there is no drinking in the parking lot which curtails tailgating parties. And there is no where else to go. In Philly, they have parking lots designated for tail gating.
The fact that it's a band box doesn't seem to have hurt the Phils.
The fact that they made Citi a "pitchers park" seems to have hurt no one but the mets......lol!

I like the acessibility from inside and out.
Many people have broken the rule, Nye. Me included. But it's not as much fun when you're constantly watching out for security. They give out many many tickets. And it really isn't conducive to large groups, which is why we've never been able to do Geek Day at Shea or Citi. Pretty sad!

For the record, here's the mets policy on tailgating:
Tailgating will be permitted only under the following conditions:
* There will be no open flames of any type.
* Fans may only use one parking stall.
* Fans may not consume alcohol.
* Fans may not engage in any inappropriate behavior.
Failure to comply with any of the above conditions may result in their removal from the parking lots or summoning of NYP

It really sucks.
Back in the day, they were not such hardasses about it, so long as the beer was in a cup, not a can or bottle. Heck I did my share of grilling in the parking lot.
The problem, as always, is the fucking lawyers (love you honey!).
The city, which owns the parking lot, is afraid to get sued if some asshole hurts somebody in the lot, or if someone gets burned.

LOL
Rac faced hills that wouldn't quit in New Jersey, Labradors on the loose in North Carolina and a four-lane freeway without a shoulder in Florida. He pitched his tent on high school campuses and golf courses. In Jacksonville, first baseman Daniel Murphy was generous enough to let Racaniello stay in his yard, but the sprinklers went off at 1 a.m. Every night Racaniello checked in with Wright, who reminded him what baseball players always tell themselves: "Take it day by day."

Could someone explain to me why a guy like Racaniello doesn't get a chance to be a major league catcher...or is that a choice he makes...or is being a bullpen catcher different than being a regular catcher. ( of course I realize you don't hit...but then again neither do any of our recent or current catchers. ) I'm not sure what the distinction is. But this guy seems like a tough guy. I like him!
