I posted this in the GDT, but I don't think anyone saw it. From Rubin:
Jose Reyes and David Wright have only worn New York Mets uniforms in their major league careers.
That is highly likely to change next season. Yet it is not a foregone conclusion that Reyes is the one who will be gone. General manager Sandy Alderson instead may choose to deal Wright next offseason, a source familiar with the organization's thinking told ESPNNewYork.com.
"It will be a very ticklish situation because of what David has meant to the team for so long, but that's not a concern of Sandy," the source said. "There will be some capital there to spend on Reyes if they choose to go that direction. Now, he can't obviously get monster money. If Reyes wants monster money, no, the Mets won't keep him."
Alderson has indicated he is likely to approach Reyes' agents before the trading deadline to gauge how much the shortstop may be seeking as a free agent. The GM also will listen to trade offers before July 31.
"But it has to be a great deal" to trade Reyes at the deadline, the source predicted.
The widespread public expectation has been Reyes is all but assured of getting traded at the deadline.
But, the source said, the more likely scenario is for the Mets to complete the season with both Reyes and Wright. Then, if the Mets can re-sign Reyes to a deal of perhaps five years or less -- their hope is an unrealistic three years -- they may be able to come to an agreement next offseason. If not, they could offer Reyes arbitration and collect two draft picks, likely including a first-rounder.
The new collective bargaining agreement may abolish first-round picks as compensation for losing a free agent, but the current agreement -- which expires Dec. 11 -- is expected to still govern free-agent compensation for next year's draft.
"I think they'll go to him and they'll request a home-team discount," the source said. "He's got reasons to stay. The flights between New York and the Dominican are easy. He'd be the man. That's for sure, if that's what he wants."
Reyes also has a home on Long Island and children in school.
A Wright trade would be expected to occur during the offseason, not before the July 31 trade deadline. He is under the Mets' control for two more years, including a $16 million team option for 2013.
One major obstacle, according to a source, would be convincing chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon that parting with Wright would be the prudent thing to do. He is said to have a strong regard for Wright, both on and off the field -- far more so than for Reyes.
Said the source: "If they wanted to move Wright, there's no better time to move him than now, because there still will be teams out there thinking, 'Well, David Wright was sabotaged by the stadium. He's still a good player. He'd be a good fit where he doesn't have to be the guy,' which he's been here for so long. So they can get some return on Wright. Plus the fact that he has two years left on his deal, so you're not talking about long-term financial damage for any team that does pick him up."
Was Fred Wilpon's comment to Sports Illustrated about Wright being a nice guy and very good player but not a superstar trying to prepare the fan base for the third baseman's departure? Not so, said the source, who called it "diarrhea of the mouth" rather than a calculated maneuver by the 74-year-old Wilpon.
Meanwhile, all of this likely is playing into incoming minority partner David Einhorn's hands. If the Mets go through a rebuilding process or fans otherwise stay away because of the trading of one of the faces of the franchise -- whether it's Wright or Reyes -- that would be a further drag on revenue. And that would make it more difficult for the Wilpons to stave off Einhorn's future option to become majority owner.

If there’s one Met that’s happy to see warm weather return to the area, it’s reliever Bobby Parnell.
Parnell was placed on the disabled list on April 20 with numbness in his right middle finger, a problem he says was exacerbated in part due to the cold temperatures around here in April. He was recalled on Monday to take the roster spot of Jose Reyes, who was placed on bereavement leave following the death of his paternal grandmother.
Parnell said the numbness in his finger has dissipated in the last two weeks. And he attributes that development in part to pitching in the warm weather in Florida.
Now that he’s back in New York, where temperatures have been hovering in the 80s the past two days, Parnell hopes to help the Met bullpen (12.00 ERA in last eight games) turn things around after a recent rough stretch.
Parnell said on Tuesday that he’ll likely have to deal with the circulation issue in his middle finger for the rest of his career. He’s on a regimen of asprin to thin his blood and help the circulation in his finger.
“It’s possible I’ll have to live with this the rest of my life,” Parnell said. “But now, I can deal with it.”

More Rubin:
Signing Jose Reyes to an extension essentially would force the trading of David Wright, according to a source familiar with the Mets' thinking.
That’s because after adding whatever Reyes commands -- say $17 million a season for five years if he stays -- to the 2012 salaries of Johan Santana ($24 million) and Jason Bay ($16 million), the source predicted the Mets will not have the means to retain Wright at $15 million as well.
Under the $17 million salary assumption for Reyes, that would tie up $72 million along with Santana, Bay and Wright.
Even if principal owner Fred Wilpon’s Sports Illustrated comment about a $100 million payroll was too extreme and the payroll instead is, say, $120 million, the Mets still will be unable to allot 60 percent of their payroll to four players. Otherwise, that would mean the average salary of $2.3 million for each of the other 21 players, which is virtually impossible.
And what happens if the Mets are unable to trade closer Francisco Rodriguez at the deadline and his contract vests at $17.5 million for 2012 with 55 games finished? That would be financially catastrophic for the organization. Yet manager Terry Collins has continued to use K-Rod even in non-save situations, including in a four-run win Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rodriguez already has 20 games finished, on pace for 61 -- six over the threshold for his contract to kick in for next season.

Yup. Found an answer to my question.
Nick Evans, who has spent most of his big league tenure confined to the bench, started at first base against right-handed starting pitcher James McDonald. Daniel Murphy, who has been playing regularly at first, shifted over to his natural position at third. And Justin Turner, who has been starting at third, moved to his own natural position at second.
The idea was to give Evans at-bats without undermining the infield defense.
"We brought him up because he's got tremendous bat potential, probably as much power as anyone on our club," manager Terry Collins said. "So I wanted to get his bat in the lineup and see how he does."
Though Evans was -- and still is -- a lock to start at first base Thursday against Pirates left-hander Paul Maholm, and against most southpaws thereafter, Collins wanted to see how he might fare against a right-handed pitcher. It may not necessarily result in bonus playing time for Evans, but it certainly could.
In the absence of Davis and Wright, the Mets need all the power production they can get. (Entering Tuesday's play, they had played nine straight games without hitting a home run, their longest such stretch since 1982.) And Evans, who has slugged .474 over parts of eight Minor League seasons, offers more power potential than most hitters at the upper levels of the organization.
"There's no reason why, if he swings the bat the way he's capable of, that he couldn't be an everyday player," Collins said.
The byproduct of the move was a defensive shift for Murphy, who was drafted as a third baseman but had not played the position in the Major Leagues until Tuesday. Still, Murphy worked out there extensively in Spring Training and was a regular third baseman as recently as three years ago in the Minors.
"He's very, very comfortable there," Collins said.

I'm worried too (Not about Holt). The velocity is back for Allen but he's still pitching like he's with less than his stuff. The defense isn't helping either. The coaches understand that but it's got to be messing with him. I don't know what happened the last game when he was piggybacking Rodriguez. The previous game was a defensive mess from all indications.
On a similar note, its time to do something with Flores. He needs off of Short and soon.

His foot might fall off. It'll be interesting to see if TC leaves him in.
I'm worried too (Not about Holt). The velocity is back for Allen but he's still pitching like he's with less than his stuff. The defense isn't helping either. The coaches understand that but it's got to be messing with him. I don't know what happened the last game when he was piggybacking Rodriguez. The previous game was a defensive mess from all indications.

craziness. kyle has like 130IP going now with a 1:1 BB/K or something. i may be off but i was reading something about that
where should they move wilmer? 3B?

Former Mets outfielder Lenny Dykstra deserves his fall from icon to inmate, his brother told the Daily News.
Brian Dykstra said Monday that he figures his once high-flying, now bankrupt brother is at least partially guilty of the fraud and theft charges levied against him last week.
"It's sad, but he's got to pay for what he did," the older brother, 49, told The News. "We feel sorry for him, but he's pretty much on his own right now. We're praying for him."

Chris, what do you think of Juan Lagares, if anything?
I can see him being a guy who ends up in the majors someday as a fourth OF, most likely for another organization (He'll be a 6 yr min league free agent this offseason). He didn't start blooming till last season, his fourth season in the Sally. He's 22. Ball comes off the bat nicely. Was very fast at one time. Has gotten bigger. Could steal 10-15 in the big league somedays.

True -- but TC felt he deserved the chance (and so do I). That's part of why this team loves him and plays so hard for him.
